Apparently Cade and THJ became good friends over having the same injury and THJ advised him/helped him with the surgery. So basically this might be a larger part of the reason he landed there. Holland is also a buddy of Cade. Seems Detroit fans believe all their recent moves were partly done to please Cade. I´m sure Nico was aware of this unlike Cuban who was not even aware that Odom was a drug addict struggling badly with inner demons.

Interesting names in that regard (in no particular order):
- Harris
- Trent Jr

- Miles Bridges (don't kill me, just listing him)

- Achiuwa
- Klay
IMO Achiuwa is perfect in the frontcourt rotation. Not sure if there's a spot for Green in NYK, though.
Other than that, Harris checks off a lot of boxes as our starting SF.

You are not reading carefully. Mavs can do SnT by expanding the current deal with Detroit (or using TPE created in that deal). Green would be a separate deal, just clearing space for DJJ

Keith Smith twitted Mavs are 16 mil (and change) under the first apron, so I used that number.
Edit: Spotrac and MavsCBA have us 14,8 mil under the first Apron. Since the new FA would be replacing an empty roster spot, I guess this puts us at over 16 mil. Am I correct in my thinking?
Than Green (shipped into someones MLE or cap space) is just replaced by DJJ, basically allowing us to sign DJJ to max Green salary. Of course if he takes less, Mavs could offer even more money to a FA in such a case.

I know Klay can still flat out shoot, although he is more streaky than he used to be. I think he would kill it here and probably average close to 20 ppg with Luka getting him wide open looks. I have a question for the analytic people on here. I know Klay's defense isn't what it used to be. That's obvious to the eye, but is he still a plus defender?

Klay has trouble sliding his feet laterally to cut off defenders at this point. The knee injuries have hurt that. Not to say he can't do it. But, between injuries/surgeries and age I don't think he's worth huge money. He would be a good addition for his experience and shooting. I think it's just a smoke screen to boost the Magic's offer.

I don’t have access to that at the moment, but I looked into this recently and I believe the answer is no. It’s not been same since injury and has been declining since. I don’t see Dallas being an elite defense with Luka/Kyrie/Klay in the lineup.

I don't think NYK has any money for him if they're trying to keep Hartenstein (which is already unlikely without some roster moves)

The problem with Grant is that his contract is so big that packaging together the guys needed to match it kind of defeats his appeal.
He's a great fit on paper. I wouldn't be opposed to trying to get him, but the chances are if we go for Grant, we also lose DJJ in the process.

, there’s this insight on the Clippers’ expected asking price in a trade (should it come to that): The Nuggets, who had serious interest, would have needed to give up Michael Porter Jr., Zeke Nnaji and significant draft capital. They are no longer interested.
Unless George convinces the Clippers that he’ll sign with a cap space team, that’s likely the sort of package it would take for the Warriors in a PG deal.

I wonder if a team can steal Patrick Williams away from the Bulls. Rumors mention the Thunder and Raptors. Most likely in a sign&trade. Still think that he stays with the Bulls but after a disappointing season and his injury his value is at an all time low. Probably still getting 20m per year range but at some point I thought he ends up with a Tobias Harris like contract.

The % is great but it wasn’t on a ton of attempts. That being said Smith was drafted this early due to his ability to shoot the three in college. Adding a rotation caliber big who can shoot it is a HUGE hole on the roster Imo. Smith would once again be a player who’d help right away but still has plenty of room to improve given that he’s still so young. I really hope we’re in the mix for him.
