And he would likely be one of our eight best players given how lots of our guys are playing. Call us "haters" all you want. Failing to lament how dynamically skilled this FO is at botching opportunities should be the natural response of someone who *loves* the Mavs.

It's very early in the season.  If we are going based on that sample, Green and Powell are two of our best players.  Its likely that by the end of the season DSJ will not be any better than Green, Frank or Facu.

For the supposed tanking teams, I expect they either run out of steam on their own or their front office assists with this.  OKC typically plays very well the first half of the season, but then go on long losing streaks as the season goes in the second half of the season.   I think Utah and SA will go this route as the season progresses.   It sucks losing to Utah twice though (Memphis) early in the season.

The Warriors playoff run was one of the very few times in the last 3 years where their top 3 guys were healthy, and they are not getting any younger.  They might get one more run in with injury luck, but that group will be done soon.

The NBA is the best soap opera around.

Nets hiring Udoka would be the cherry on top of that shit show.

You know, as hard as it is to be a Mavs fan sometimes, it's unquestionably 100x more punishing to have been a Brooklyn Nets fan these past few years.

Imagine signing Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving on the same day and then having the team implode just a few years later with only 7 total playoff game wins to show for it. What a complete failure.

Durant and Anthony Davis are simply overrated. Not for what they do on the court, but both are simply not #1 guys on a championship team, because they lack the fundamental leadership skills. They won titles as super #2s.

It´s funny, but I think KD should have stayed in OKC. They´d have won titles there. People talk a lot of sh*t about Westbrook, but have you ever heard a teammate say bad things about him, despite all the dumb and allegedly dumb sh*t he does on the court. If KD had played it smart, they´d have won multiple titles in OKC. Westbrook would have been the locker room and KD would have gotten ALL the credit he craves. Now he´s just Steph´s b*tch.

I don't see OKC winning a chip much less multiple.  The real screwup was letting Harden walk.

The NBA couldn't manufacture a better drama if they tried after the Nets hired Udoka.

As far as the Nets/Udoka goes, part of me thinks he deserves the Nets, but the other part of me is pretty furious that he's going to get to line his pocketbook again after the garbage he pulled in Boston.

I'd be willing to bet Kidd is safe. If the team takes a slight dip this year, he has next year to bounce back. Cubes ain't firing him unless they just totally fall apart. As far as Udoka is concerned,  how ironic is it he would be coaching in the same division as his old team. Oh the drama that is the NBA.

You are probably right....BUT...

1) If he "loses" Luka, Kidd is gone.

2) If he "loses" Wood and other talented players (leading to losing), then Kidd will be on the hot seat IMO. This is a player's league and so a coach cannot afford to alienate his most talented players.

Gotcha. Like Nash just did, however Kyrie is a big part of what's wrong in Brooklyn.

You'd think, but by all indications, Carlisle had long since "lost" Luka and Cuban was still about to bring him back for another year after firing Donnie. Carlisle had to step down for the coaching change to actually happen. Even Donnie stuck around for 20 years before Cuban finally pulled the plug. Then again, Cuban did fire Avery Johnson after only 3 years so maybe, just maybe, if Kidd really screws up we'll actually have hope that he will do what needs to be done. I have stopped trying to get into the mind of Mark Cuban at this point though.
