RE: MAVS NEWS: - ThisIStheYear - 03-17-2025 Jeez. 40 and 12 by Grines on what looks to be a road win at Houston. Philly has found themselves an all star. Nico is such an unbelievable idiot. You have to give Kidd some blame as well. Both should be run out of the league. How stupid is Nico? I’d expect if I met him he wouldn’t be able to form a sentence. Worst GM in history. RE: MAVS NEWS: - nicholasthefan - 03-17-2025 Really digging our win/now I mean win/later I mean culture, though. RE: MAVS NEWS: - ThisIStheYear - 03-17-2025 Well Philly ended up true to their tank and blew the game. But 46 and 13 by Grimes just reinforces that we have a clown GM and a pretty bad coach as well. RE: MAVS NEWS: - SwisherPrice - 03-17-2025 We didn't even need Klay if Grimes was going to play like this. Grimes + Brandon Williams > Klay + Jaden Hardy RE: MAVS NEWS: - ThisIStheYear - 03-17-2025 (03-17-2025, 12:14 PM)DallasMaverick Wrote: AD understands the optics, and the fans' very short-sighted evaluation of the Luka trade, just like our very short-term view of the Grimes trade. This is all a fantasy. Luka is back in MVP form. Q is dropping 30-40 points a night. The guys the Mavs got back are old. Nico is just a clown. Face the facts. He can’t even face the public anymore. Even Dirk in his nice way suggested Nico is a clown. RE: MAVS NEWS: - Jason Terry - 03-17-2025 Irving planning and zoning meeting going on right now to decide the fate of the property sold by Cuban to the Adelsons. Please support our communities in saying NO to resort gambling. If it fails there, they’ll go to the city of Dallas property next. We need to run the Adelson-Dumont scum out of our communities. They aren’t welcome RE: MAVS NEWS: - SleepingHero - 03-17-2025 So uh... Grimes with a 46 point night. Every day has been basketball hell since February 2nd. RE: MAVS NEWS: - Knutsen - 03-18-2025 (03-17-2025, 04:00 AM)Knutsen Wrote: Grimes is averaging 26.1 points, 5 rebounds and 4.4 assists along with 2.1 steals in 8 games in March, with excellent percentages. How can you throw such a player away? To quote myself from the gamethread against Philly: Now Grimes is up to averaging 28.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 2.1 steals in 9 games in March, while shooting almost 54% from the floor and over 41% from three (with a Luka-like bad 70.4% on FTs) Not that I suggest we should have traded Klay instead, but will there ever be a 9-game stretch again where Klay is able to post these numbers? RE: MAVS NEWS: - Chicagojk - 03-18-2025 So do I have this right, if the Suns beat the Bulls at home and the Mavs lose on Wed, the Suns will overtake the Mavs for the 10 spot? And the Mavs want to bring back AD? Just sit him out. The only way this gets worse if 1) AD comes back and this team falls short or 2) AD comes back and gets hurt. This team has no chance with their guard play in the playin. Just admit failure and lets get this season over. RE: MAVS NEWS: - Nowitzki Way - 03-18-2025 This Grimes for Martin trade might be one of the worst trades in the NBA in a long time. And its not even the worst trade we made. The Luka trade will go down as the worst trade in NBA history. RE: MAVS NEWS: - SleepingHero - 03-18-2025 (03-18-2025, 07:20 AM)Chicagojk Wrote: So do I have this right, if the Suns beat the Bulls at home and the Mavs lose on Wed, the Suns will overtake the Mavs for the 10 spot? I don’t think AD alone is enough to save this sinking ship. I may be wrong but AD isn’t good enough to plug all the holes this team has currently with all the injuries. Especially since we have no PG to set him up. I assume he’ll be on a minute restriction too. But the Mavs should sit AD. The season is done. It’s been done. I am more fearful of what would happen if they rush him back. How good would Grimes have been as the 6th man bringing scoring punch off the bench? RE: MAVS NEWS: - HoosierDaddyKid - 03-18-2025 (03-18-2025, 09:18 AM)mvossman Wrote: We never needed Klay. Both were traded for each other and are now showing off their wares for other teams. At least THJ is on a pretty good Detroit team. Everyone thought he was going to purgatory. Grimes is just auditioning for a bigger payday on a crappy injury-riddled Philadelphia. The difference being Grimes is playing at a significantly higher level in all facets and is 9 years younger. That trade was so good for the Mavs and it got thrown away (by Kidd on the court and Nico in the trade). RE: MAVS NEWS: - SleepingHero - 03-18-2025 @Fullcourtpass Kyrie Irving is still on track for a max extension from the Dallas Mavericks, per @MikeACurtis2 "The goal is to keep Kyrie in Dallas as long as they can. Before the injury, he was definitely on track for a max extension. I think that's still the case." RE: MAVS NEWS: - ThisIStheYear - 03-18-2025 God giving Kai the max would be idiotic. RE: MAVS NEWS: - Knutsen - 03-18-2025 (03-18-2025, 10:46 AM)SleepingHero Wrote: @Fullcourtpass Okay, that would be the next step of stupid - didn’t know there were any steps left. It should definitely be for a much cheaper deal than if he wasn’t injured, because we lose one (counting this year it‘s two) of his few prime seasons left. And maybe all of them if he loses a step or two with him being in his mid thirties and coming back from a major injury - which wouldn’t be surprising at all. RE: MAVS NEWS: - Jym - 03-18-2025 That would have been incredibly dumb even if he was fully healthy and played all 82 games this year "In the summer of 2025, Kyrie Irving could be eligible for a maximum extension with the Dallas Mavericks, potentially a 5-year, $313 million deal, if he opts out of his player option for the 2025-26 season. " RE: MAVS NEWS: - HoosierDaddyKid - 03-18-2025 They have to be real careful doling out a huge deal for him. He likes Dallas though, and has been on his best behavior and has become a team leader. There was skepticism when he first got here. It depends how much athleticism he will lose if any as he ages. RE: MAVS NEWS: - omahen - 03-18-2025 Re Kyrie - I think Mavs simply don't want to afford another player related fiasco. They can't afford Kyrie walk. They will try to make it look like how they take care of players that fit "the culture". Perhaps they negotiate a bit smaller than max deal, but I will be surprised if he doesn't sign an extension and just keeps his option. I don't expect a full max 5 year extension. I would expect higher money for less years or perhaps same annual money for 5 years. Kyrie strong negotiating points: "I have been a good soldier, your far best player last season, I took a modest contract last time and I deserve to be rewarded. I demand respect." And if there is no agreement, he can go to threats: "You can't really do anything if I walk. Your house just falls apart without me and you can start a rebuild (after claiming Luka trade was a win now move). Also, good luck signing any significant FA again, after yet another media fiasco you will face after I walk disgruntled. " Mavs strong negotiating points: "You are injured and we can't pay you a lot since we don't know when you come back and how you will look like." Threats: "good luck finding a good offer while you are injured." Despite his injury, I think Kyrie still has a stronger position. Since Kyrie has been unpredictable in the past, I wouldn't put it as completely unsurprising if he would just leave, even for less money. Or force an extend and trade option to a team of his choosing. For Mavs - well, it is a whole they dug for themselves with their actions. |
