I remember sitting at 19-10 going into the Christmas game against Minnesota. Thought they were going to stomp them and be on pace for Phil Jackson's 40-20 rule. Instead Luka gets hurt and everything falls apart.

Shams says it's very possible AD doesn't come back this season.

I am going to delete this post.  I don't think it is right for me to share at this time. Sorry.

RE: MAVS NEWS: - Chicagojk - 03-08-2025

Caleb and Dante are questionable for tomorrow. Everyone else who missed last game is out. Should be a fun one on ABC.

RE: MAVS NEWS: - SleepingHero - 03-09-2025

@noahweber00

Jason Kidd on if any of the inactive players from today could play tomorrow:

“I would think they’re out. They’re out. We’re gonna probably have seven (players). Eight at the most…Again, we lost three players, one was able to come back and finish, we had no subs…”

He then joked that he and Jared Dudley “cost too much” when asked if they could play in tomorrow’s game.

RE: MAVS NEWS: - Chicagojk - 03-11-2025

It is going to be hard to build a contender next year with Kyrie out for a good portion of next year. Although to get a real view, we need creation. Ideally with some size and shooting. At least one starting level player and probably a good solid bench piece. Maybe the bench piece can be a draft pick if we keep it.

It got me thinking though of Klay, Max, Marshall and Caleb. I think there are too many bodies there i we assume the centers and PJ are on the roster next year. I think at least one, maybe two will need to be moved this offseason. All have their strengths and weaknesses. I would be curiuos how you would rate each.

Klay- Negatives-Oldest and short term. Also not very good when he needs to elevate his play when others are out. advantages-He has big game experience and is still a shooter teams need to defend.

Max- Negatives- Slow release and right now is not a guy who can score efficienctly on his own. Needs to shoot better too. Advantages- Youngest and is a pretty smart player. Also contract controlled and should still improve when he is playing with better players. What is he though? Is he a good rotation piece or can he be more?

Marshall- Negatives- I have trouble seeing how he fits long term is he can't shoot or won't take open threes. The paint is going to be crowded and ideally he is going to get open looks off rotations. If he can't or won't take a three, I don't know how he can be here long term...especially with other questionable shooters. He is also a little overrated as a defender. Advantages- Does a little of everything. He provides some toughness. He has also been one of the brighter spots since Kyrie injury putting up some huge numbers.

Caleb-- Too early to tell. I liked some of the small things he has done. He appears to have a nice feel for the game. His offense will be the key. Can he hit open shots? Not going to be a big scorer, but can he be a guy who does positive things while on the court. Also on a cost controlled contract.

Personally I think it is between Caleb and Marshall.   Klay is short term and you get a longer look at Christie to see how his game grows next year.   Klay has the teams trust as he has played in big games and I think they will be leary to move him.   Unless we are struggling next year at the deadline or if he asks to be traded.  Although Klay starting with one creator is another pretty big problem if PJ is at the three.

RE: MAVS NEWS: - Scott41theMavs - 03-11-2025

To me, next year is not pitch black in outlook if the Mavs 1) don't trade for KD, 2) don't do anything stupider than that, and 3) acquire a young-ish player who can create.

Of course, if we get Flagg or Harper in the draft, the outlook raises to twilit.

RE: MAVS NEWS: - SleepingHero - 03-11-2025

So Caleb Martin, Naji Marshall, and God Shammgod all played a round of golf today and live streamed a large majority of it.

Naji posted this clip to his own instagram:

So, we can just assume he will be shipped out of here ASAP right? I mean he is smoking during the regular season and we saw how that is an unforgivable sin with Luka.

The constant negativity is a beating. Two day ban. Do better.

RE: MAVS NEWS: - Chicagojk - 03-13-2025

Does Nico know he can't escape talking about the Luka trade? Does he have any plans to make more public statements? Does he realize that probably any interview he does for maybe the rest of his basketball career that this question is going to be brought up. It just baffles me that there has been no further public comments from him. The interest in his answers is not going away...in fact it will keep on getting hotter and hotter.

I don't think he really cares to be honest.

Like he said himself, he will be gone sooner than later and won't really see the consequences of his actions. Thus he doesn't really have to answer to them.

RE: MAVS NEWS: - RoyTarpleysGhost - 03-13-2025

The Mavs side of the trade still looks awful.

But I browse the Lakers subreddit and outside of maybe two games, they’re all a little nervous about how Luka looks. Lots of “I hope LeBron gets through to him because this is a huge offseason for him” type posts. He’s always clutching a different part of his body during games. No longer driving to the basket.

The Lakers' history since the 80's has been one of athletic players so Luka is a big change for them.    I was always telling my friends that Luka was generational but I rarely got agreement because he was so tired and his face so red as the game went on.  Luka is a generational talent but a stretch to call him athletic, which is going to bother Laker nation.

The Dallas Mavericks announced today that Mavericks forward Olivier-Maxence Prosper underwent a successful surgery yesterday to repair a right wrist injury.

Prosper, who sustained the injury earlier this month, will be listed as out for the remainder of the season.

RE: MAVS NEWS: - bubbler86 - 03-14-2025

Bulls win 4 in a row...an interesting development for Tank fans. But it may be countered by De'Aaron Fox being out for the season.

That is just terrible luck for the kid.  The last 20 games he probably had a real good chance to play at least 20 minutes a game.   He may not get the long leash again.  It would have given him a real good shot to gain some trust in the coaching staff.  Poof that is gone and he appears to be stuck out of the rotation next year.

He was one of my main reasons for having interest in the games.  I wanted to see if he made any progress with consistent minutes.   He is just so far away from being a NBA rotation player.   I was hoping the minutes would help expedite his development.

Yeah it’s tough. OMax is so likable and he’s a hard worker. It’s evident whenever he plays he goes 110% every time. But in terms of actual skill, he just isn’t there. At least isn’t at the level of a proper rotation player.

If the Mavs are serious about trying to “win now” then I expect OMax’s time is starting to run out.

Per Mavs PR: Dante Exum (left hand) will not return tonight in HOU

Just said on the broadcast that Exum has a broken hand.
