RE: MAVS NEWS: Nico Harrison is a Basketball Terrorist - Chicagojk - 02-07-2025 It doesn't bother me Nico is not speaking. He should of taken care of that during the press conference prior to the Detroit game. Unfortunaely, he dropped a major turd on that press conference. That press conference should have been much, much better. I lost a lot of faith in how he handled that. Hopes aren't takes or predictions. Further, picks can be used for more than just selecting players in the draft. RE: MAVS NEWS: Nico Harrison is a Basketball Terrorist - ThisIStheYear - 02-07-2025 I don’t think Dallas fans are particularly loyal to players over team. Luka is just the exception. He’s our MJ. He has an entertaining style that transcends the NBA and we drafted him. I was prepared to ride or die with him as a fan, no matter how it turned out. He’s the only area athlete like that I can recall except maybe someone like Staubach. I’ll still root for him, like I did Nash when he left but also the Mavs. I have to admit AD and Max just seem like super good dudes the more I get to know them. I hope they’re successful here. But it won’t be the same. RE: MAVS NEWS: Nico Harrison is a Basketball Terrorist - Ghost of Podkolzin - 02-07-2025 The Adelsons are far right wing nut jobs. Cuban is slightly left of center. Don't undervalue how this difference between cut throat business and caring about people dictated this move. Cuban could have totally offloaded Dirk when he was near the end, but still producing at a high level. Dirk to OKC for Harden could have happened, but Cuban wouldn't even entertain it. I guarantee Cuban the Mavs fan is pissed at himself for selling to these vultures. But it won’t be the same. I feel really bad for AD and Max as they'll catch a lot of ire for something out of their control. I do think there is a tipping point for fans, even the more casual of them, which I believe we are seeing with the Cowboys. When Jerry Jones goes from the butt of a never ending joke to someone despised. Are the Mavs there yet? I'm not sure. Most fans probably weren't plugged into Mark and Donnie's many, many, many blunders after the championship, but they also didn't trade Dirk eight months after the '06 finals. The media landscape has also changed a lot since then and the Luka trade is wildly being heralded as the worst trade in NBA history and maybe one of the worst in all of sports. It will be interesting to see what this does to attendance and merchandise sales if anything at all. side note: I've been meaning to ask you to change your name to ThisIsntTheYear RE: MAVS NEWS: Nico Harrison is a Basketball Terrorist - KillerLeft - 02-07-2025 I really like Max Christie. Even more after hearing him speak today. RE: MAVS NEWS: Nico Harrison is a Basketball Terrorist - F Gump - 02-07-2025 (02-07-2025, 03:14 PM)cow Wrote: Hopes aren't takes or predictions. Regardless, my point remains that its much better to have AD than to trade him this summer for a package whose main feature is the number of picks. He's the guy you want. At some point down the road, that may change, but it's way premature imo. And on the topic of picks, Mavs have to get wayyyyyyyy better at drafting/developing before assembling picks becomes an advantageous strategy. Despite all the hoopla, Nico has hit on Lively, and hit a zero on the others. Hardy - meh. OMax - meh. Neither has really contributed at all. Of course, without Lindsey, his trades and negotiations have also been pretty bad, so not sure what route that leaves for good roster-building, if any. RE: MAVS NEWS: Nico Harrison is a Basketball Terrorist - SleepingHero - 02-07-2025 @KevinGraySports Spoke to Anthony Davis’ agent Rich Paul for a few minutes today and he gave me some real interesting insight into why he’s not surprised that AD is in Dallas and his empathetic message to Mavs fans about the situation I’ll be sharing soon #MFFL RE: MAVS NEWS: Nico Harrison is a Basketball Terrorist - fifteenth - 02-07-2025 (02-07-2025, 03:38 PM)KillerLeft Wrote: I really like Max Christie. If I listen to Max Christie and like him, that's exactly the kind of thing that might make me curious about his play.... and that could lead to me checking out a game. You have no point as you failed to understand the simple concept of one's hope versus what they think will happen. That isn't terribly surprising coming from you nor is you doubling down on your misunderstanding. Regardless, your differing point of view is noted. I have really liked his first two games. His first game he had some trouble on defense...or he was guarding a guy really good and hot. Plus the team wasn't connected. Last night, he had some really good moments on tatum and Brown. They are going to make some, but if you can just make them take tough shots that is a all you can do with stars. They are likely trying to switch it up since the fans want to burn Nico at the stake right now. Not everyone is good at pressers. Also, they were likely concerned it would have taken away from focusing on these players. RE: MAVS NEWS: Nico Harrison is a Basketball Terrorist - michaeltex - 02-07-2025 Not that MBT has a crystal ball, but I was thinking about the recent news that Silver and the NBA are looking for ways to de-value the 3pt shot in an effort to improve viewership and interest in game play. Some of the ideas I have heard would encourage more plays in the mid-range and at the rim. Just wondering if the new look Mavs, with their big front line, might be positioned to take advantage of a rules change. Not that any of the events of the last week were targeted for that, just wondering if there might be some serendipity at work. It's not like it can be extended, other than at the top of the key, which will make corner 3's go up 1000%. Some of the ideas I have heard would encourage more plays in the mid-range and at the rim. It's something I've seriously been wondering about. You look at the teams that are winning right now. I believe the 3 point line combined with the player empowerment movement is the reason that fans are ditching the NBA. You have to consider that the fans had pretty much already ditched the whole All Star game thing. So, why would you essentially change the rules to make all of the games like the all star game? Exchanging buckets at the end of the game just means the team that wins is whoever makes the final shot. There are several games I've seen where no one got stopped or truly beaten. The timer just ran out. That's not basketball. Where is the scheming and skill at? It's not fun watching a guy jack up shots from the logo and win. One I had heard is removing the corner 3 so that the line goes out of bounds at the sideline. First thing that comes to mind is bringing back hand checking. That will pretty quickly slow down ALL perimeter play in the league. RE: MAVS NEWS: Nico Harrison is a Basketball Terrorist - Chicagojk - 02-07-2025 Not nearly as fun as Luka Magic highlights but here is almost 20 minutes of AD blocks from last year https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBIN_rFeZSQ&t=986s RE: MAVS NEWS: Nico Harrison is a Basketball Terrorist - Scott41theMavs - 02-07-2025 One thing I will say is that the few remaining Mavs fans should be nice to AD and MC. It's not their fault that they don't add up to half a Luka. |
