Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania)
San Antonio Spurs No. 2 pick Dylan Harper underwent surgery Friday to repair a partially torn ligament in his left thumb that he suffered in a workout Wednesday, and the hope is Harper will be ready for the season opener Oct. 22 in Dallas, sources tell ESPN.

RE: AROUND the NBA: - SleepingHero - 09-05-2025

Marc Stein (@TheSteinLine)
The Thunder say rookie forward/center Thomas Sorber sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee during an offseason workout in Oklahoma City yesterday.

San Antonio and OKC clearly have bad training staffs.

Sorry bro, but you won't find any takers here (or in any part of Mavs' fandom, I'd wager) in trying to imply that what happened with the Mavs last season was somehow normal, ie the idea that the Mavs training staff last year was worth a crap and just snakebit. They were awful and we all know it.

It was TERRIBLE decision making by Nico in hiring that group and getting rid of Casey. (What else is new?)

Nico of course claimed last season's staff was great and the results last season were coincidence. But in classic Nico style, he fired them all, and then went into hiding, when the season ended. Of course.

Your schtick in the midst of The Trade fiasco almost mentally broke me. Almost.

But now I'm semi-back to normal and can enjoy your art.

Back to the main thing, OKC having both of their FRP be out back to back years due to an ACL injury is some weird voodoo magic.

Or ...
... is OKC regularly playing the "redshirt" game, giving their picks a year to acclimate and train and hone skills without any pressure from fans to perform? Are any of the supposed injuries actually overblown, for a purpose?

Also see: Holmgren, Chet.

Pretty sure there was a second shooter at the grassy knoll.

As your comment underscores, some conspiracy theories aren't just theory!

[I lived in Dallas then. I personally knew witnesses to events that make it certain the idea of Oswald acting alone was pure nonsense. I'll leave it at that. Where it all leads, that's less clear, but ...]

Let´s trade AD, when Baby Jesus enters the draft. Markkanen, Valtonen and Baby Jesus just ended Jokic´s EuroBasket.

Huge surprise by Finland. Serbia suffered a tough blow with Bogdanovic injury, as he seemed to be the heart and soul of the team. Serbia still had a great team with arguably best player in the world and great supporting cast, which should be on paper much better than Markannens supporting cast.

Tomorrow is Slovenia vs Italy. Slovenia had somewhat surprisingly second best offense in the first five games, just behind Germany. Italy had best defense in the tournament so far. Unlucky for Slovenia - even if we manage to win against Italy (far from given, it will likely be a very interesting match), we play Germany in the quarterfinals. Arguably best team in the tournament. As little hope as I had for Slovenia, they seem to be playing better and better, of course lead by monster Luka performances. Despite realistically low level of quality, I have to admit the confidence of our guys is sky high. They trully believe they can beat anyone.

Thoughts on Player Loans?  Intriguing.  The only way I could see it working is that the loaned player’s salary both teams, with the receiving team having a separate “loaner cap”.  Also, what length of the loan?  Full season?  Half season?

Pure fiction. Not under any consideration whatsoever. Contrary to all kinds of CBA rules and underlying concepts, and the CBA is a legal document that is set in stone until there's a new negotiation (not set to happen until about 2030).

I see you changed your "source" which was originally a BS-producing website that writes believable sounding "news" under the disclaimer "This page is intended for entertainment purposes only. The content posted here is satire and should not be taken seriously." Now it's flowing from off-the-cuff remarks by an NBA coach. In any event, no this isn't on the horizon at all. ~shrug~

Italy vs. Slovenia was a masterclass performance from Luka.

40 points in Eurobasket is basically the equivalent of 60+ in the NBA. He's on a tear and truthfully buried Italy in the first quarter. They came back with some good defense and Slovenia stalling out but Luka and the crew managed to put them away.

What a game. Like you said it's unfortunate that they will play Germany. But given that Serbia and now France have both been knocked out in stunners, who is to say that Slovenia can't give Germany a wake up call??

I believe in Slovenia!

Who is Baby Jesus, Little or Muurinen?

Muurinen. Will go to the 2027 draft. Probably AD will be too broken down to trade for a top 5 pick by then.

One must always be at the ready to train their staff to make it perform with greater zeal and stamina

RE: AROUND the NBA: - Chicagojk - 09-12-2025

Free agent guard Malcolm Brogdon has agreed to a one-year deal with the New York Knicks, agent Sam Permut of Roc Nation tells ESPN. Entering his 10th NBA season, the former Sixth Man of the Year gives the Knicks key backcourt depth and reserve playmaking.

Nice signing by the Knicks.    Eventhough he really hasn't done anything in two years and is injured alot, tough to complain at that contract.  Seems like almost every good team has seecured a good/solid player at a discount where money dried up on them.    I wonder if this trend will continue moving forward.

Also, it also give me pause about GS.  They still have not made any moves.   Brogdon was suppose to be a target for them.    Maybe it was Horford and Melton instead.  Horford is still amazing for what he can do at his age, but he is really old.   I just look at a real old team in a tough west with little ways to really be anything in the next 3-4 years.  Unless they get that Mav lottery luck.

RE: AROUND the NBA: - Chicagojk - 09-15-2025

The Atlanta Hawks are trading guard Kobe Bufkin to the Brooklyn Nets for cash considerations, sources tell ESPN. Bufkin was Atlanta's No. 15 pick in the 2023 NBA draft, and this now gives him a fresh opportunity in Brooklyn, and the Hawks some roster flexibility.

*****************
remember there were reports the Hawks wanted to move up in this draft.    Some Mavs talk with Capela too during this summer.

Luckily for Bufkin´s fresh chance Nets didn´t draft five PGs two months ago. Big Grin Big Grin
