I know he fits a role with Indy but he just leaves me wanting more way too often.

His next deal - and his expectations for that deal - may not be anywhere close to the same. For the reasons you cite, in this era of NBA economics I don't see him as a 30M player, which is his supposed ask. In fact, when I think about what's available and how it tends to be priced, it's hard for me to see value above 20M.

He has a bit of Ayton in him.  Plays at like 70%.  He then gives you glimpses of brilliance leaving you wanting more.

He lights up the Mavs every time we play them. But other than that, not an impact player. Especially in the playoffs. i wonder if Haliburton's injury gives them pause on a new Turner deal.

I guess so. 33 million is his last big payday.

Knicks are in the stage of interviewing assistants of head coaches they were denied.

The New York Knicks are interviewing Minnesota Timberwolves assistant Micah Nori for the team's head coaching job, sources tell ESPN. Now three candidates – Nori and two former head coaches Mike Brown and Taylor Jenkins – have done formal interviews for the Knicks' vacancy.

Um...Ok what? Weird thing for the owner of the Nuggets to bring up.

Does it signal a desire to trade high-priced, oft-injured players like MPJ? Or that the owner doesn't have his finger on every implication of the cap?

Or something else?

Easily explainable (and rational) -- I would wager he didn't bring it up himself. Instead, it looks like he's holding a pre-draft presser on the state of the team, and gets asked about the Nugs willingness (or concern) over their payroll. This next season they will be subject to repeater tax penalties. He may have also been asked how they view going past the aprons (with the various restrictions and penalties for doing so).

His reply made sense - which is, their concern is to keep from painting themselves in a corner where it might cost them Jokic somehow. Such a scenario is way not likely to happen, but that's also an honest bottom line on where they WON'T let their spending take them.

They are in the 203M range when they fill in the last 3 slots with minimums. Should have room for TxMLE if they wish, and still stay below A2 of 207.8m, but the question of how concerned they are in the range they're in is a legit one. Their tax at 203M would be about 45M.

RE: AROUND the NBA: - Chicagojk - 06-25-2025

Anyone look at the Sixers salaries moving forward?

26-27
Embid- 57 million
George- 54 million
Maxey- 40 million

27-28
Embid- 62 million
Paul George 56 million
Maxey 43 million

28-29
embid 67 million
Maxey 47 million

Besides those three, their salaries are pretty clean but how do you build a team around that?

RE: AROUND the NBA: - Chicagojk - 06-25-2025

Off-season is officially here and we have a Ben Simmons workout video. This needs to be a bit right? He has these shooting videos and then refuses to take any jumpers in real games. What are we doing here?

We just found Kyrie's stop-gap replacement!

I've never cared to look at his form before, but he cocks the ball to the right side of his head.  I know southpaws (I'm one) don't typically have the prettiest forms but that's odd.

RE: AROUND the NBA: - FireNicoHarrison - 06-25-2025

Please stop Simmons train, he is not a NBA player.

How do you make it thru AAU, HS, and college with that shot?

Reaves' likely next payday will be more in the four-year, $120 million range (or higher).

Expect Reaves to come up in a lot of trade rumors in the next year — teams will wonder, with Doncic in the fold, if the Lakers want to pay another negative defender that much.

Reaves is as negative defender as Kyrie is... That is ok, if we are looking from perspective, that LeBron is retiring soon. Or at least playing in a much reduced capacity. If Lakers intend to focus on Luka-LeBron window in full capacity, most likely result will be that they lose both in a couple of years.

But not really important. No matter how you think of Reaves, his market value is not high because of his contract status. He will be a FA next summer and will not sign an extension with anyone (no team is allowed to offer him a big enough extension he thinks he can get). So whoever is trading for him, is risking that he is trading for a one season rental. That is not worth a lot. Lakers best bet is to keep Reaves this season and negotiate a win-win deal in the summer. All indications so far point that this is the best outcome for both Lakers and Reaves.

Paradox - if he would sign that extension, he would be a great asset (and could be traded for a nice haul). Which is probably one of the reasons why he is not signing that extension. He at least has full control where he will play next season.

Stay away from him... Next Jordan Poole is coming.

I think Nico was wise to get Max Christie instead of Reaves.

Defense wins championships.

I know every single one of your posts is a bit, and obviously it's tough to compare those two players.

But on a serious note, I do think Max Christie is a gem of a get and I'm not sure I would've known he had so much potential if I had been negotiating that deal. He fits better here than Knecht would've, and that's a name we all would've preferred at the time.
