RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: Stein: DET Emerged as a Landing Spot for THJ| Grimes Included? - RoyTarpleysGhost - 06-25-2024 I don't think he is a scorer or playmaker. I like him because he isn't afraid to shoot when the ball gets swung around to him on the perimeter. Also, he can guard smaller/quicker guys than you ideally want DJJ or PJ guarding. He complained to the media last year about his playing time with the Knicks and they shipped him off to Detroit. I have to imagine he'd be a Josh Green replacement. (whether Green goes in this deal or another one) RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: Stein: DET Emerged as a Landing Spot for THJ| Grimes Included? - F Gump - 06-25-2024 I would love the THJ-Grimes swap, as that solves what MUST be done in one package. That makes anything further completely optional. FWIW Grimes was not good at all in DET since he got there (and we have to be aware his value here would very much be TBD) - but even though they grabbed him from NY just a few months ago, they may be very willing and perhaps even eager to move on. There is value to DET in having a placeholder for unused salary, that can be packaged and traded at the deadline, and the only "downside" is using the money on THJ rather than handing a check to the NBA in Oct. He has not kicked on from his early promise last year. 10 of 46 games in double digits as a rookie. 37 of 71 games as a sophomore. Just 14 of 51 last year. I have aöways liked Grimes, but we need a reliable scorer not another Green/DJJ. So question is do you believe he can kick on again from his sophomore season and disregard last season. Grimes is not a FA so SNT is not a thing in him being traded to DAL. A THJ-Grimes swap would be a July deal, presumably (once the new salaries and team payrolls kick in). His contract is $4.x, but since DET has tons of cap space, no salary match would be needed from their end (and from the Mavs end, 16.2 is bigger than 4.x). JamesConway912 - JamesConway912 - 06-25-2024 Mavs were rumored to be interested in Stewart a few months ago. Maybe they’ll revisit that? Shot 38% on a solid volume last year. I don’t know much about Grimes but his 2023 season in NYK was impressive. Not sure it makes sense to have him on the roster with Green already here. Maybe that changes though. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: Stein: DET Emerged as a Landing Spot for THJ| Grimes Included? - From Dirk to SCREW YOU Nico - 06-25-2024 Green + Hardlyplay for Grimes + Stewart. Would you do it? RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: Stein: DET Emerged as a Landing Spot for THJ| Grimes Included? - SleepingHero - 06-25-2024 Not sure the value with Stewart money wise and role wise. Unless we moved off of Maxi too. If we can do a THJ for Grimes swap flatly then the Mavs got 2 birds with 1 stone. Also frees up Green as a contract to use in a trade RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: Stein: DET Emerged as a Landing Spot for THJ| Grimes Included? - Mavs2021 - 06-25-2024 (06-25-2024, 04:00 PM)F Gump Wrote: Grimes is not a FA so SNT is not a thing in him being traded to DAL. Oh I thought he was a RFA this year already. That would obviously be even better. ![]() Let´s hope Langdon really likes THJ that much. ![]() RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: Stein: DET Emerged as a Landing Spot for THJ| Grimes Included? - SleepingHero - 06-25-2024 @TheDunkCentral Teams showing interest in Brook Lopez: Memphis Grizzles Los Angeles Lakers Oklahoma City Thunder Dallas Mavericks New Orleans Pelicans Houston Rockets (Via @GeryWoelfel) RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: Stein: DET Emerged as a Landing Spot for THJ| Grimes Included? - Chicagojk - 06-25-2024 (06-25-2024, 04:08 PM)SleepingHero Wrote: @TheDunkCentral Dallas finally finds out what it feels like to have real center play and now they have a center fetish. Stewart + Grimes 19.3 for THJ + Kleber 27.2? Makes some sense. Would line-up two more players with Luka´s timeline. Mavs would save about 5 million in this deal. It does not free up the MLE at all. Any Thybulle swap imo has to send out Green as well. Then the salaries make sense. A little bit of compensation is sent to Detroit. Portland swaps out a guy they aren't using with a guy they will maybe use. I’d expect Green to be moved as he’s somewhat redundant with Grimes. Your playoff rotation basically goes Green ==> Grimes Kleber ==> Stewart THjr didn’t have a role, he gets replaced internally by Hardy Probably a pretty even swap oncourt-wise for now but you’d be looking at young talent literally everywhere now. REALLY hope we’ll get Stewart. I don’t think his shooting is a fluke, we’d finally have a five out option again who might also be playable in some lineups at PF. Yeah I am kicking around the idea that Stewart and Grimes is a minimal savings to THJ & Powell; Make it a 3-way move with Green to Portland for Thybulle. This combines to about 3 million in savings AND Portland possibly needing to make up some difference (MT to JG), while Detroit owes for us taking on Stewart vs Powell long term. Stewart on the Mavs doesn't trump DJJ resigning. That's why I'd just cut him out the deal entirely (or send him to Portland) and the Mavs can have Grimes/DJJ/Thybulle as their wing rotation.
