RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:ATL Fire Sale? WAS/MIA/DET/ATL Spots for THJ? DAL Likes Shamet? - Mavs2021 - 06-24-2024 (06-24-2024, 02:55 PM)RoyTarpleysGhost Wrote: It’s the Wizards. I wouldn’t read too much into what the optimal positions are in the modern NBA. Givony made a good argument today that we simply do not look into enough. Washington is the safest way to minutes and a life changing (max) contract extension. Then Veccine made another argument about "nobody knows who is making the decisions in Atlanta right now" (sounds familiar), so while there is rebuilding buzz, what if they try to compete instead? Minutes and money won´t be that easy to come by with Johnson/Hunter/Okungwu as the designated starters. Right now Washington has 11M committed to Avdija in 2027/2028. Coulibaly will be a RFA and then there is absolutely nothing. Unless Sarr is complete sh*t he´s getting a bag in Washington. Atlanta has Murray/Okungwu on the books for 50M. Young and Hunter as FAs. Plus he might be tight with Coulibaly from the French youth national teams. I can see the logic from Sarr´s POV. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:ATL Fire Sale? WAS/MIA/DET/ATL Spots for THJ? DAL Likes Shamet? - SleepingHero - 06-24-2024 @TheDunkCentral De’Aaron Fox will not sign an extension with the Kings this summer, as he wants to first see the long-term vision for the team’s roster, per @anthonyVslater & @sam_amick “Fox’s future looms in the background too, as league sources say the All-Star guard has decided not to sign an extension this year, in part, because he wants to see how the roster takes shape for the long-haul. Fox, who has two seasons left on his current deal, wants to win at the highest level and could also qualify for a significantly larger max if he makes All-NBA.” RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:ATL Fire Sale? WAS/MIA/DET/ATL Spots for THJ? DAL Likes Shamet? - SleepingHero - 06-24-2024 @esidery The Kings continue to show interest in trading for Kyle Kuzma, per @sam_amick / @anthonyVslater (https://nytimes.com/athletic/5587438/2024/06/24/sacramento-kings-nba-draft-free-agency-zach-edey-kyle-kuzma-zach-lavine/). Sacramento’s No. 13 overall pick is “very available” in trade talks for the right win-now player. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:ATL Fire Sale? WAS/MIA/DET/ATL Spots for THJ? DAL Likes Shamet? - SleepingHero - 06-24-2024 @TheDunkCentral The Chicago Bulls rejected the Sacramento Kings’ trade offer of the No. 13 overall pick in exchange for Alex Caruso, per @anthonyVslater Instead, they decided to trade for Josh Giddey “The Kings already tried to use it for a significant roster upgrade. They were close to a trade for defensive ace Alex Caruso last week, according to league sources, offering the No. 13 pick to Chicago as the key chip. The Bulls, to the surprise of many within the league, instead opted to send Caruso to Oklahoma City for Josh Giddey.” RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:ATL Fire Sale? WAS/MIA/DET/ATL Spots for THJ? The difference in their post-season success is simply in the conference and the incredible injury luck the Pacers had with the Bucks and Knicks. I´m not sure the 19/8/5 that Haliburton put up in the post-season gets you anywhere in the West. He was also atrocious for Team USA. I don´t think he´s good enough of a scorer (yet) especially in combination with a guy like Sabonis, who averaged 16 PPG in his best post-season. Siakam´s career post-season average is higher than Sabonis current peak season. I think the combinations are perfect as they are for both teams. Siakam is a better scorer than Sabonis. Sabonis is a better passer than Siakam. Fox is a better scorer than Haliburton. Haliburton is a better passer than Fox. Good synergy on both teams. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:ATL Fire Sale? WAS/MIA/DET/ATL Spots for THJ? DAL Likes Shamet? - Jason Terry - 06-24-2024 Nba trade rumors just published their mavs offseason overview Their plan is to trade THJ to Charlotte for Cody Martin ($8.1 million) . Use those savings to sign Jones Jr. They say these moves would put us in good position going forward to make an all in trade: PJ, Maxi, Gafford, Green are all the perfect contracts for trade matching Omax and Hardy available for trade 2025 and 2031 available for trade They think Nico’s comments suggest that he wants to let the team have a training camp together before making the next big move RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:ATL Fire Sale? They aren’t trading him as an instantly vanishing trade chip. Those don’t exist anymore. FWIW you would do this trade in July, so the 1st domino to fall would be news that Shamet's deadline on the waive-by date has been moved into July, accompanied by a rumor that DAL is getting WAS pick 26. I like Sabonis, and I am not suggesting Sacramento could have gotten him for Fox, but that’s my whole point. There’s a reason he’s the one other teams wanted. I think Fox is one of the most underwhelming, overrated players in the entire NBA, and that is coming from someone who was really hoping the Mavericks could draft him the year he came out. I love speed, and he’s got that, but he just isn’t it. You like it, and that’s cool, I would never, ever have traded Halliburton if I had been in their shoes. he even did not want to be traded, at the time. So Halliburton was the one included, and Indiana was fine with that. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:ATL Fire Sale? WAS/MIA/DET/ATL Spots for THJ? Wow, I don’t remember hearing anything like that, and knowing how Carlisle coveted Halliburton in the draft I find it hard to believe. But, if I take your word for it, that makes me think even less of the decision to move Halliburton. That makes it like one of the dumbest trades ever, imo. Halliburton is an actual great player. Sabonis is good, but you don’t give up a great player just to get him. I am in literal disbelief that there is an opposition to this opinion. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:ATL Fire Sale? I doubt the East wins more than four titles since 1998, if the play-offs were not conference restricted. The Champion Bucks for example would have played the Mavs/Lakers/Blazers as the 7th seed in the 1st round. In the 2nd round they´d have played Phoenix already, who they ended up playing in the NBA finals instead. Next round Sixers/Nets/Nuggets/Clippers bracket. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:ATL Fire Sale?
