RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: - RoyTarpleysGhost - 05-14-2025 Can one yall start a 25-26 draft and free agency thread and move it up to important threads? Dunno whether to talk about offseason moves here, or Mavs news, or Mavs win lottery threads.. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: - RasheedsBigWhiteSpot - 05-14-2025 I think trading a center is the best way of recalibrating the team. Interestingly, I think the best trading partner are the Lakers (so long as Nico isn't negotiating) because they once again find themselves at the mercy of having to cater to a superstar -- this time Luka. Yes, he wants a pick and roll center, but I really think a familiar face would endear him to the team in his extention off-season. So I want the Mark Williams deal for Lively. I think Lively gets the Mavs more from the Lakers than either Gafford or Lively does anywhere else. Lively for Knect, 2026 and 2028 swaps and 2031 unprotected You then use some of that to get a true PG. And I would really, seriously look into Morant while his value is low. I know some here are non-plussed on him, but I think the leadership of Kyrie, AD and the beyond his years maturity of Flagg could mitigate any possible shenanigans where Ja was the alpha in Memphis. Klay, Caleb, PJ and the swaps for Morant I'm just going to keep hitting the table for a playmaker like Ja who could facilitate a PnR with a number of combos. Ja, B.Williams, Exum Kyrie, Christie, Hardy Flagg, Naji, Knect AD, OMax Gafford, K. Jones, Powell That's the most versatile team in the league. I'd do that Laker deal. Not sure they would. Ja's value might be low, but I doubt it is that low. From a Spurs blog "Jones did a good enough job in the 2022/23 season as the Spurs’ starting point guard to earn a new deal to stay in San Antonio. The young floor general was a steadying force on a bad team and while his upside never seemed particularly high, he proved he could be a floor raiser and culture setter."es d RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: - RasheedsBigWhiteSpot - 05-14-2025 Okay, here's a more nuisanced, NBAish,, money driven deal that addresses everyone's needs: Mavs receive Jrue Holliday, 2025 #20 from Heat (via GSW), #28 from Celtics and #35 from Celtics (via Wiz) Heat receive PJ, OMax and Hardy Celtics receive Duncan Robinson (partially guaranteed contract - only $9mil of $19mil is guaranteed in expiring contract - can be immediately waived) and Naji Marshall Why for Mavs? They get a primary ballhandler and someone who fits the defensive ideology. Plus, in return for taking on longterm money, they get picks in a deep draft and can either stick and pick or combine them, move up into the lottery and grab another young piece that fits Flagg's timeline. Why for the Heat? They get a valuable defender, who is a cheaper version of Jeremi Grant. Why for Celtics? Quite simply, they not only move off of significant, aging longterm money, but they immediately cut over $10mil (plus luxury tax money) from their cap. In addition, they pick up a solid SF in Marshall who can offset the huge void left by Odom. Naji has shown that his game can handle additional minutes. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: - LukaMVP - 05-14-2025 Jrue is a bit old but still serviceable and the extra picks would make the deal more acceptable. pj is a good role player but the value returned looks very attractive tbh. i'd rather take Derrick White though, younger, better shooter and big enough to play SG. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: - SleepingHero - 05-14-2025 Going to lock this thread so we can talk about 25-26 in the designated one. |
