Good defender but not providing the same kind of POA defense that earned DJJ his starting spot. This screams to me that Nico really thinks Grimes is our new premier POA defender. When he was with NYK, he always guarded the best opposing player. 99th percentile in terms of matchup difficulty. But he was too inconsistent shooting to get proper minutes. RE: FA: Naji Marshall To DAL | 3yrs/27mil - Jym - 06-30-2024 I wonder if that agent change is going to mess up DJJ's payday who is going to be left to throw 12 million at him in 2 weeks? Unless the Mavs were to "thematically" (intentionally) make Luka the SF. It screams to me that Harrison (or someone over there) sees value in “winning” a bidding war for Klay Thompson. Unless the Mavs were to "thematically" (intentionally) make Luka the SF. Grimes COULD be a starter. He started 66 games under Thibs and played 30 mins a game. That doesn't happen unless you are a good defender. Grimes is also 6'5 205lbs compared to DJJ 6'5 210lbs. RE: FA: Naji Marshall To DAL | 3yrs/27mil - RoyTarpleysGhost - 06-30-2024 ^ THat's the silver lining for me. Bigger role for Quentin Grimes. Between Jones and PJ, matchup wise? Not as good as either? He can handle the ball. That’s something people will like. Everything they’ve done so far has been done with improving the offense in mind. Body type is more PJ. But he isn't as explosive and a little bit lighter. RE: FA: Naji Marshall To DAL | 3yrs/27mil - Smitty - 06-30-2024 (06-30-2024, 09:32 PM)SleepingHero Wrote: DJJ at $12.9M+. Probably 4/$55M+ deal OR Naji at $8.5M. 3/$27M. I think it’s an easy choice but I hate losing DJJ. Naji Marshall played 19mpg for the shitty Pelicans. DJJ started for a NBA Finals team. easy choice ![]() RE: FA: Naji Marshall To DAL | 3yrs/27mil - Kidnova - 06-30-2024 (06-30-2024, 09:29 PM)SleepingHero Wrote: Nick Angstadt (@NickVanExit) We seem to forget that DJJ was buried in the bench and signed a 1 year min deal before getting run next to Luka and Kyrie. I'm actually not that surprised that he may walk when I heard he signed with Lebron's agency. He wants top dollar and I'm excited to see what Marshall will do with these open shots he's about to get. RE: FA: Naji Marshall To DAL | 3yrs/27mil - LukaMVP - 06-30-2024 maybe we can resign DJJ in two weeks on another minimum deal when/if he fails to attract any team satisfying him with the money he wants. at least playing one more year in Dallas will grant him early bird rights, but he would have to face the competition with Marshall and omax. He’s not needed. We need backup pg and pf/center. No more wings. Yes, some of us enjoyed having a top level defense and being more athletic than opponents. |
