Brandon Ingram agrees to a 3-year/120-million-dollar extension with the Raptors.

Seems the Raptors front office has a higher opinion of him than I do.

Maybe I should stomp and scream and throw a tantrum.

Are you Nico?

KD in a Mavs jersey might make me cheer for this team again.

Even at the cost of Christie, Lively, and whatever future we have remaining in picks?

If either of those players are included in a hypothetical trade for a 38 year old KD then Nico should be looking for jobs at foot locker, not Nike, after this.

RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: - LukaMVP - 02-12-2025

Suns ain't gonna sell KD cheap imho and his salary would be a major obstacle as well. in order to get Durant we'd have to either give up half of our roster or Kyrie plus some filler. provided Durant wouldn't cost lively and our 25' pick, still we would have to fill up the roster with minimums. I don't think the scheme of big three plus rookies and minimums would work very well especially when the big three are approximately 100yr old combined, and after missing the playoffs this season probably it'd be hard to attract competent veterans as well.

Picks in 2026, 2029 and 2032.

It’s one thing to give away a superstar and be bereft.

It’s another to give away a superstar and have LITERALLY zero way of finding another one for half a decade.

‘26 can’t be traded but they can do a pick swap that year and also in ‘32. They also have a ‘30 SRP from Philly that they’ll inevitable throw in the deal for good measure.

It's almost like a good GM should use his once in a generation player, should he wish to trade said once in a generation player, to fill up all the holes he created putting a team around that player.

The Mavs won’t be capped at the first apron. Working through a hypothetical KD deal
This summer it can look something like: Klay, PJW, Gafford, and Martin for Durant. Maybe one of them going to a 3rd team to give the Suns salary relief.

The picks that can, and likely will, be traded are: ‘29 FRP (Lakers), ‘31 FRP. ‘26 & ‘32 FRP Swaps. ‘30 SRP (76ers).

In a deal like that, we assume Kyrie opts out and resigns a longer-term deal, once the Mavs have made their moves. They’d have some spots to fill with only these players under contract.

Kyrie (PO) | ‘25 FRP
Christie | Hardy
KD | Naji
AD | Omax
Lively | Powell (PO)

They’d probably look to bring Exum and/or Dinwiddie back. I think they’ll give Edwards a spot.

They’d need to add 4 players total. Safe to assume a vet Big would be a need and depending on who they select in the draft, they can fill out where needed and have plenty under the second apron to do so.

*Edit with Dan's correction about the Apron rules.

RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: - SleepingHero - 02-13-2025

Man I don't know. PJ is so integral to this team and winning. Like I understand with KD AND Davis here, there is little room for him. But I'd hate to lose him for 37 year old KD. Dude is just such a perfect defender and role player.

RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: - LukaMVP - 02-13-2025

pj is a good player and an excellent fit to this team, but if he demands a max extension, which Nico won't give him by any means, he will be shown the door for financial reasons just like how Grimes was treated. if involving pj in a KD trade means an extra first round pick could be saved, it wouldn't be that bad at all tbh.

@shamscharania

Free agent guard Markelle Fultz has agreed to a deal with the Sacramento Kings, his agent Raymond Brothers of I AM Sports & Entertainment told ESPN. Kings have searched to find a point guard – and land a deal with the former No. 1 overall pick.

That deal would hard cap them at the first apron.

Ahh. You're right. "Uses an outgoing player (or multiple players) in a trade for matching purposes to take back more than 100% of the outgoing salary."

It'd have to be Klay instead of Hardy then.

Klay, PJ, Gafford, Martin: $54,799,205
Durant: $54,708,609
