RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - SwisherPrice - 11-12-2019 Knicks got whooped by the Bulls but they will be ready for us. Gonna be motivated to get the sweep...they will treat it as their NBA Finals game 7 RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - Mavs2019 - 11-13-2019 Seems like the Kings might not be done yet afterall. Won four of their last five with a tough loss against the champs. RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - DanSchwartzgan - 11-13-2019 We talk a lot about how it is too early to judge this or that. With the Exception of Portland and Phoenix, the top 9 in the WC are exactly who most of us thought the top 9 would be. Even the order is pretty close. I would have had Portland in the top 5 and LAL just outside of it. I've presumed we'd be in the top 8 and SAS and Minn would finish 8/9 in some order. Absent major injuries, Portland probably ousts one of the current top 9. Do we see anyone else jumping into the group? 1. LAL 8-2 2. Utah 8-3 3. Hou 7-3 4. Den 7-3 5. LAC 7-3 6. Dal 6-4 7. Pho 6-4 8. Minn 6-4 9. SAS 5-5 11. Port 4-7 RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - Hypermav - 11-13-2019 (11-13-2019, 08:37 AM)DanSchwartzman Wrote: Do we see anyone else jumping into the group? The last 5 may be pretty even. I am partial to Dallas and think they will grow as a team from this point and be better. KP becoming more of a factor with each passing week. PHX will get Ayton back and some might say that makes them less potent but it is a boost imo. Spurs and Blazers have plenty of talent and the playoff pedigree. T-pups are my most likely to fall from playoff contention even with KAT playing so well. Portland has to be disappointed with their start. A trade deadline move could make the difference for any of these teams. I think the Pelicans will be out of it before Zion returns but they will be better and could be a spoiler down the stretch. Absent major injuries, Portland probably ousts one of the current top 9. Do we see anyone else jumping into the group? While I love Dallas start, I think we have to be a bit careful. They only played 3 teams so far that are in play-off positions and lost against 2 of them. They also lost against two teams that are not in play-off position. I think we will know where we are around new years, after that tough end of november-december set of games will be finished. Regarding Portland - it is becoming clear they lost a lot this offseason. They have no depth at four, especially since their only guy (Collins, who is actually a five playing a four) is injured for most of the season. I would say that this will be their position on the table, if they don't make a trade for a Love/Griffin type of player. Alarm bells are clearly ringing with some teams at this point. Portland I mentioned. There is Orlando (already rumors for DeRozan), Detroit (will they make a desperate move or break it up?), Chicago (tank one more year or move one of their young "I think I am a star but still need a lot of work to get their or never will be" for a real star?). On the other hand Charlotte and Cleveland are in play-off picture at the moment, despite we probably all saw them in bottom 5 teams. Phoenix of course exceeded all expectations. Baynes is a monster and I think they might actually look worse when Ayton returns to take his minutes. I think the question regarding them is, will they move their couple of expiring veterans (Reddick, Favors) and go full youth movement or will they try to be full competitive to leave a nice image and be attractive for a big FA sigining. Although there is none available in 2020 RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - Hypermav - 11-13-2019 Like to see Toronto beat the Blazers. Spurs vs T-pups, I just care about the fact that one of them will be the loser. RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - Aussiebballer - 11-13-2019 It will be interesting to see how Phoenix goes when Ayton returns. Baynes is creating havoc in pick and rolls, teams are still not respecting his shooting and he is shooting very well (hard to know if it will continue). He is a great position defender and controls the defensive structure well. Ayton doesn't do wither of those but is a more dynamic defender, ie blocks.. Obviously long term Ayton appears to be a very strong prospect, but he may result in more losses short term. Kaminsky has had a couple of good games but has been bad overall, so less minutes for him could conteract any issues Ayton's return causes. Byanes is 32yr old so keeping his minutes low would be good idea, he has never avg more the 18mins so far in his career. RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - SportPsychMav - 11-13-2019 As soon as Gordon (their weak link) is out, rockets hold clippers to 15 point quarter. Freak stat of the night Westbrook with 4 fouls in 8 minutes. A bad start makes him a weak link? They literally have no bench left... Based on your logic, Mavs have no other choice but to bench KP for good :-) RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - SportPsychMav - 11-13-2019 (11-13-2019, 08:48 PM)omahen Wrote:(11-13-2019, 08:33 PM)SportPsychMav Wrote: As soon as Gordon (their weak link) is out, rockets hold clippers to 15 point quarter. So you are one of the guys who love to provoke it seems. It's a fact that he destroys the team defensively. That's a weak link. For that arguments sake it doesn't matter if them lacking a bench in general is even worse. It's not even something against Gordon. Reading comprehension goes a long way. (You like that kind of talking?). You watching the game or just reading stats? Rockets defense is terrible. Clippers had wide open shots all the time, just couldn't make them. They just scored 15 points in first 5 minutes of Q3. Clips are shooting 11 % from three. RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - jesusshuttlesworth82 - 11-13-2019 Ja Morant looks pretty good. Shooting 44% from three early on. Disappointed we didn't get to see him against Memphis. Makes a few of our most dire posters look tame. To sum it up: -Pop Can't Coach; overrated -Pop doesn't play youth and doesn't care about development -we are looking like a lottery team, our "stars" are soft, etc -Why can't pop have a set rotation already -We need to trade with Orlando. Wiggins has really stepped up his game, and is looking like the player everyone thought he could be. He's had 6 straight games of 25 or more pts. RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - Mavs2019 - 11-14-2019 Spurs were done, when the NBA decided they had enough of them for now... Home record 32-9 (7th seed) 33-8 (6th seed) 31-10 40-1 33-8 (6th seed) 32-9 Their home-road split has been outrageous at times, but the NBA would rather see Wiggins/Towns and Doncic/Porzingis in the play-offs than LMA/DeRozan, so I think this team is finally through. 4-3 at home. Big problems. They also have little in terms of trade value to make themselves better or injury returns. At least the Blazers still have Nurkic to return.
