How many contracts are now in place? For now it seems to be just a contract to be in training camp. Ben Sig ? @sig_50 Dallas likely fills their roster out with Dinwiddie and +1x Player. So, there’s room for Jamarion Sharp to get a standard should he impress in training camp. However, Exhibit-10 language allows them security to waive him and retain his NBAGL rights with roster bonuses should he stay. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: Jarrett Allen Extends 3yrs/91mil - KillerLeft - 08-02-2024 (08-01-2024, 01:13 PM)SleepingHero Wrote: I find it hard to believe PHX didn't offer Hayward anything. I'm sure OKC would've had him back on a minimum. Yeah, I mean I'm a little surprised by this turn, too, but given how he and his wife were both publicly bashing OKC for not allowing him a role in the playoffs, I got the sense that they think he still has something to offer. But also, I can see how, if he was borderline on the outs with the league already, that type of public complaining could be the final turnoff for any teams who might have otherwise been a little interested. I have very little trouble imagining that the phone didn't ring much. Then again, maybe he was offered only minimums and was delusional enough to think he's above that, or just valued his time/body more than that amount of money. After all, he is very wealthy. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: Warriors Likely out of Lauri Race - Chicagojk - 08-03-2024 (08-02-2024, 10:23 AM)SleepingHero Wrote: Chris Haynes (@ChrisBHaynes) I assume he will battle for a two way. In the end will probably just be a G-league player. I am not sure how many the Mavs can bring to camp, but isn't Gortman coming to camp to? Is Emmanuel Miller coming to? I don't think any would rate high on priority for the last two way spot, but there is something there with all three. Gortman and Sharp are more long range prospects. I like having one long range guy as one of your two ways. Both are just so so far away. My preference would be to sign someone else and keep Gortman and Sharp on the G-league roster with a carrot that we think they could eventually be a two way player. I guess it doesn't matter though if Dallas thinks either of them has at least a small chance of figuring it out eventually. What about Brandon Williams? Is there a chance he ever makes our roster? I would say no. If that is the case, maybe you look somewhere else. Probably won't happen. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: Warriors Likely out of Lauri Race | Mavs Sign Jamarion Sharpe - SleepingHero - 08-05-2024 Quote:Former Phoenix Suns big man Deandre Ayton is expected to be on the move once again. I wonder what team will be excited to pickup Ayton and attempt to pay him a contract. At one point in time I was the biggest Ayton kool-aid drinker. I am glad the Mavs have found a better center. I try to always remember my failed predictions, like signing Lonzo Ball instead of THJ; Ball hasn't played a minute since. I thought Ayton had buyer beware simply because he didn't punish us in that series. We let him go, free range, with only Powell covering him. OK numbers when he should have been balling. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: Warriors Likely out of Lauri Race | Mavs Sign Jamarion Sharpe - SleepingHero - 08-05-2024 (08-05-2024, 08:42 AM)Ghost of Podkolzin Wrote: Good on you for owning that. I try to always remember my failed predictions, like signing Lonzo Ball instead of THJ; Ball hasn't played a minute since. To be fair I don't think anyone would've reasonably expected Lonzo's career to end in a snap so I'll give you a pass on that one. With Ayton, I was so gun-ho for him because I didn't think there was a reasonable starting center available, at that talent level, for the price of THJ+McGee+Richaun Holmes, if the Marc Stein rumor was to be believed. I wasn't interested in Ayton if he cost anything more. And I definitely didn't think Lively would be ready to be a starting center for a finals team in his rookie year. All things considered the Mavs made out like bandits. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: Ayton Expected To Be Moved, But There is No Market - SleepingHero - 08-05-2024 NBACentral (@TheDunkCentral) Lauri Markkanen is unlikely to sign an extension with the Jazz tomorrow, per @Tjonesonthenba & @timkawakami “According to The Athletic’s Tony Jones, it’s unlikely that Markkanen will sign the new deal by Tuesday. Which makes sense. The 27-year-old Markkanen knows he’s going to get major money either now or next summer. By not signing this week, Markkanen essentially gains a bit of control over his future.” RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: Ayton Expected To Be Moved, But There is No Market - HoosierDaddyKid - 08-05-2024 https://basketnews.com/news-210151-jordan-nwora-signs-for-anadolu-efes.html#google_vignette I thought Nwora was a decent player who wasn't really given a chance by the Bucks, Pacers and Raptors. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: Ayton Expected To Be Moved, But There is No Market - SleepingHero - 08-05-2024 NBACentral (@TheDunkCentral) Jerami Grant enjoys the stability in Portland, per @JakeLFischer “Few players want to face the general uncertainty of moving midseason, especially those who have enjoyed newfound stability for the first time in their careers. That has been the same word about Portland forward Jerami Grant, sources said, despite rival teams' interest in the veteran Trail Blazer.” (Via http://yhoo.it/3Akvwn4) RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: Ayton Expected To Be Moved, But There is No Market - mvossman - 08-05-2024 (08-05-2024, 10:57 AM)SleepingHero Wrote: NBACentral (@TheDunkCentral) Sounds a little bit like Kuz being perfectly happy being lead chucker on a bad team. I have never been a huge Ayton fan, but I was definitely intrigued heading into last offseason. I never would have offered our #10 pick, but I would have done it for Maxi and Hardaway. Heck, I may have been talked into Josh Green as well. Mavs are in a much better place now. I am curious what the next 5 years look for Ayton. Does he just play for bad teams and puts up decent stats? Or does he find a good team where he takes a reduced role and finds footing in the league? The issue is not a ton of teams need centers. Even more, most teams don't want to pay huge money for a non star center. They have an elite defense that desperately needs a scorer/shooter/playmaker. 23/4/6 with 39% 3pt shooting on nine attempts per game. At 25 years old he even fits into the timeline of Banchero/Wagner/Suggs perfectly. If you had to bake a guy for Orlando it would be Simons. Probably because in today's NBA, overpaying for the wrong guy could nuke your entire timeline. I mean the Mavs were nearly victims of this with the KP trade. 2 years ago everyone was worried Luka was out of here after they went all in on Kyrie and were void of any talent. It took 4 masterful trades and some luck to scrape out of that and even still the Mavs are close to an empty cupboard compared to other teams. Orlando has a lot of assets don't get me wrong, but just because they have that doesn't mean they should spend a portion of it on Simons. In a scenario where Simons doesn't work out, they're stuck paying that dude 20+ mil a year and are forced to carve out a role for him. Of course there is a chance it works. But even if it does are you taking them over NYK/BOS/IND/MIL/PHI/CLE to make it out of the East?
