RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:SAC Focused on DeRozan| Mavs Interested in Dinwiddie + DSJ? - Jason Terry - 07-06-2024 We didn’t think DJJ would do much as a 14th/15th guy. But he worked his way from deep bench to starting and guarding the other teams best on ball player when it mattered most DJJ had the right attitude coming in. I think DSJ is humbled in the same way. He could take that same attitude and wait patiently for opportunities In fact i could see a similar situation. If Grimes gets hurt (has a history) we are screwed at POA. DJJ has more length. DSJ can dribble, attack and distribute better. Both poor shooters. Both great athletes that play above the rim. Both quick. Both lob threats, but DJJ better. Both are elite on ball defenders. DJJ has better block ability. DSJ better at steals. It makes some sense on several levels as a CYA move with DJJ gone RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:SAC Focused on DeRozan| Mavs Interested in Dinwiddie + DSJ? - Chicagojk - 07-06-2024 Another minimums guard hitting the market. Man not this love but I haven’t been impressed with the spurs offseason so far. Other experts see it differently. I do t know much about their draft pick o Lu that Givony said he would get to UConn games early so he could get videos of the prospects shooting. Said he had to wait 30 minutes for Castle to his two shots in a row. It may not matter because Wemby is terrifying. I just have been hearing this summer that these Spurs did it again. I don’t think they deserve the benefit of the doubt. Besides lucking into Wemby the last 5 years have been brutal for a smart Organization https://x.com/wojespn/status/1809639146069143903?s=46 RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:SAC Focused on DeRozan| Mavs Interested in Dinwiddie + DSJ? - Chicagojk - 07-06-2024 (07-06-2024, 12:20 PM)Jason Terry Wrote: We didn’t think DJJ would do much as a 14th/15th guy. I like these guys 26/27 who were either top picks who never advanced to the big second contract guys. I especially like the guys who may have been stuck on bad teams who can get lost with all the younger players that are being brought in. Most don't pan out, but I think there is a sweet spot for these types of players. Looks like SA is clearing cap space to help facilitate the DeRozan SnT. Looks like they think they will get paid way more than they needed to pay to dump Graham RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:Bucks want a FRP for Brook| Mavs Interested in Dinwiddie + DSJ? - DallasMaverick - 07-06-2024 (07-06-2024, 11:25 AM)SleepingHero Wrote: In today's NBA, trades desperately need guys who make 8-10 mil a year to match salaries. Even if Hardy or Grimes meet expectations I can see teams still be interested in the salary. Plus they are both still very young. The big long-term issue is that, in this modern era, you can’t have non-performing payroll. If you’re paying a guy $8-10m, he needs to playing (and contributing) 15-20 minutes per game. And doing it at a significantly higher level than a minimum guy. Can’t just pay a guy those numbers for insurance purposes. Or on the hope that he might develop someday, or you think you might need a contract that size to trade, someday. I wonder where the Bruce Brown contruct fits into all of this. Will we see more players on big one year deals? RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:SAC Focused on DeRozan| Mavs Interested in Dinwiddie + DSJ? - SleepingHero - 07-06-2024 @ShamsCharania The Charlotte Hornets are waiving Davis Bertans, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium . Bertans, an eight-year NBA veteran, shot 38 percent from 3-point land last season. He had a partial guarantee on his Hornets deal. Right. Those who hope to see Gafford here more than one more year should be very interested in how Exum, Hardy and Grimes are handled. Soon after, they have to worry about Lively. There comes a point when being able to trade someone for a different player isn’t all that helpful. They will literally need some of these guys just to go away, at some point. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:SAC Focused on DeRozan| CHA waives Bertans+ Graham - SleepingHero - 07-06-2024 @wojespn The Washington Wizards are declining the $11 million option on guard Landry Shamet’s contract, sources tell ESPN. A career 38.4 percent three-point shooter, Shamet will join the free agent market. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:Bucks want a FRP for Brook| Mavs Interested in Dinwiddie + DSJ? - Ghost of Podkolzin - 07-06-2024 (07-06-2024, 08:38 AM)The Jom Wrote: Respectfully, I think this forum is too focused on roles. Best player available. If he’s dissatisfied on the bench, he can play better or shove it. Incredibly well said, especially when talking about players we sign. They know the deal when they sign. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:WAS Declines Shamet's Option| CHA waives Bertans+ Graham - SleepingHero - 07-06-2024 @Mavs_FFL Report: The Mavs will pursue Landry Shamet now that he is a free agent. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:WAS Declines Shamet's Option| CHA waives Bertans+ Graham - Ghost of Podkolzin - 07-06-2024 Min Players I'm interested in... Din DSJ Bertans Shamet RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:WAS Declines Shamet's Option| CHA waives Bertans+ Graham - SleepingHero - 07-06-2024 (07-06-2024, 01:55 PM)Ghost of Podkolzin Wrote: Min Players I'm interested in... In that order? Or is that just your list? I think where I'm at right now assuming Morris is kept: 1) Lowry 2) DSJ 3) Shamet 4) Graham 5) Dinwiddie 6) Bertans RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:WAS Declines Shamet's Option| CHA waives Bertans+ Graham - SleepingHero - 07-06-2024 @esidery With the Devonte Graham trade, the Spurs have close to $20 million in cap space, which is enough to take on Harrison Barnes or Kevin Huerter’s salary. The Bulls, Kings and Spurs are making the money work on the backend in order to complete this DeMar DeRozan sign-and-trade. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:Mavs like Shamet?| CHA waives Bertans+ Graham - SleepingHero - 07-06-2024 Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) The Charlotte Hornets are waiving former OKC first round pick Aleksej Pokusevski, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:Mavs like Shamet?| CHA waives Bertans+Graham+Poku - The Jom - 07-06-2024 I can think of worse ways than Poku to use the last spot. JamesConway912 - JamesConway912 - 07-06-2024 Shamet would be my nr target 1 for the guard spot ahead of Dinwiddie/DSJ/Lowry. Dude is a legit player and still young. Long, capable shooer, more of a combo guard who can really shoot it but he’d also be a help with the ball in his hands as well. VERY playable in lineups without but also with one of Luka/Kyrie Imo. Also: I’ll ALWAYS have a soft spot for Poku. But right now with a declining Kleber and no real stretch big option on the roster he’d actually fill a need here. Still only 22 and while he hasn’t put it all together yet he’s shown plenty of flashes. Man these two would be solid additions in general but this late in FA I’d be pretty pumped. DAL was also reportedly interested in Shamet ahead of FA iirc. I also think Luka spoke highly of Devonte Graham in the past. I don’t know what has happened to his career at all though. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:Mavs like Shamet?| CHA waives Bertans+Graham+Poku - Mavs2021 - 07-06-2024 Shamet was just one option to get rid of THJ. I serioulsy doubt they add another non-point GUARD to this roster. Therefore complete non-story to me.
