Not sure the swap rules with Utah and Cleveland, but Cleveland could end up being a lottery team if they don’t figure it out.

It all does not matter. The Hawks will get the Cavs pick, it´s nearly impossible to be any other way. The Jazz would have to overtake the Cavs in the standings, or the Cavs have to overtake the Spurs. Neither is happening.

Also that trade Porzingis, Kennard, Newell and 2029 Hawks pick is next level trash. Rolleyes

I really kinda want Risacher, tbh. I'm not saying he's THE thing I'm interested in from ATL, really, but I do need him to be in the deal if I'm the Mavs.

Yeah, I wouldn't do it. I like the $41 million cap relief, but it's not the young player I'd want, and the pick is too far away. I'd take that pick as the 2nd 1st, maybe.

KP back in Dallas would bring my viewing apathy to another level.

Also one thing unrelated. Did the Bucks really turn down Giannis for Luka last year as reported. Kind of nuts in hindsíght. Maybe they thought it was a prank call.

I imagine Luka had no interest in extending in Milwaukee/living there long term.

This trade is a joke. Worse than the Doncic-street clothes swap.

I mean the interesting part is that Rich Paul likes it, isn’t it?

Critical point there. Inspired my thread here: https://www.mavsboard.com/showthread.php?tid=4087
Bridging that pick gap won't be risk free.  A #1 overall with some maybe potential still out there is probably about as good as a high 1st rounder with more ceiling but also more bust-ability.

I remember when an oft-injured George fetched a future MVP and a boatload of firsts. Let’s start there if we want to find something to be enamored with.

Otherwise, I’m happy to let AD do his thing for as many games as he can play.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to look at 2024 Frenchman’s highlights over last few years to see that he has a low ceiling.
That PG trade turned out poorly, close to disastrous for Philly.  That's another reason most teams have to be very wary of injury prone veterans.  On the flip side, KP did have just enough healthy time to contribute to the Celtics season leading to a championship.  Maybe AD can do that for a team.

Taking a flyer on a former #1 as young as Zacc makes some sense if you're switching timelines. All paths have risks.  With AD/Kyrie, the injury risk is pretty high.

Yes, his ceiling appears low relative to the better drafts, but he also hasn't appeared to be on one of those #1 overall busted pick tracks.

At 20 yrs that's a long experience runway.  In terms of trade value you have to keep in mind that if he were on track to be a #1 overall stud he wouldn't even be available to Dallas in trade discussions.

George was 28 and averaged 78 games played over his prior 4 seasons.  The oft injured part came after that trade.  Not a legit comp.

Here's the kind of deal I would be pushing for right now. The Mavs get Risacher, two 1sts, dodge the tax, and clear a roster spot. Atlanta gets AD plus a bunch of depth while avoiding the tax (for this season at least).

I'd really want a 2026 pick. This class is so deep, that i would want to make the best out of it.
Let's say our own pick lands at 8 and we'd also get the Cavs pick at around 15, we might be able to jump to 5 or 6 if something we love is there.

Good creativity. What makes you think Portland wants anything to do with Young? Is there something out there about that? They seem to be running their offense through Avdija, and I kinda like the way it looked the other night.

Yes.   Has anyone listened to his new podcast?  is he saying anything worthwhile besides the Lebron stuff from a few weeks ago?

I wouldn't be surprised if this is the type of offer the Hawks are throwing out there.   I mean the Hawks don't have great bargaining power but nor does the Mavs.  I just don't know why the Hawks would be hot and heavy for this type of big move now.   He could certainly really help Atlanta but I am not sure what it gets them.

I haven't heard any rumors of it, but it feels like he could be a good fit playing next to Camara and Clingan. Deni did look pretty solid. Having one reliable on-ball creator is never enough though. Holiday could be that second guy if he's healthy. Trae would just be a better fit for their timeline. I wouldn't blame them if they didn't want to deal with him at all though.

That's the thing though.   I wonder if that's closer to the current reality.  That's not a criticism of this forum but we are Mavs fans.  It's not like the pre apron NBA.   These highly paid injured guys don't seem to be in high demand anymore.

Like I could see the Hawks agreed to send Risacher but said no 1st rd pick unless you also take Trae.

And here we're talking about HOW MANY 1st rd picks should be in the trade.

Hawks fans saying their owners are a little impatient and impulsive. I think the owners do not want to miss the play-offs, when they do not control their own pick.

The fans themselves want nothing to do with AD, unless it´s literally for nothing.
