RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:Bucks want a FRP for Brook| SAS+CHA Like Ingram?| MIA Likes Lauri? - Ghost of Podkolzin - 07-05-2024 (07-05-2024, 09:34 PM)SleepingHero Wrote: Maybe as a starter or even 2nd guard off the bench. But as a 3rd stringer playing once a week if needed? I think he could thrive in that role. See, I don't. I wouldn't want to use a roster spot for him. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:Bucks want a FRP for Brook| SAS+CHA Like Ingram?| MIA Likes Lauri? - Branduil - 07-05-2024 If we're looking at a backup-backup guard I'd prefer a DSJ reunion to Dinwiddie. Makes more sense to have a defensive change-of-pace guy than a (bad) offensive player with bad D. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:Bucks want a FRP for Brook| SAS+CHA Like Ingram?| MIA Likes Lauri? - Smitty - 07-05-2024 @MavsFilmsRoom “The Dallas Mavericks have considered bringing one of two former guards back to the team, Spencer Dinwiddie and Dennis Smith Jr, league sources told HoopsHype.” Also says that if the Mavericks did not get Klay Thompson, Malik Beasley was a backup option. https://hoopshype.com/lists/nba-rumors-demar-derozan-brandon-ingram-buddy-hield-malik-beasley-free-agency-trades/ “The Dallas Mavericks have considered bringing one of two former guards back to the team, Spencer Dinwiddie and Dennis Smith Jr, league sources told HoopsHype. Dinwiddie played some of the best basketball of his career for the Mavericks alongside Luka Doncic in the backcourt before he was traded as part of the package to acquire Kyrie Irving. Dinwiddie averaged 17.7 points and 5.3 rebounds with Dallas before being traded to Brooklyn in the 2022-23 season. Smith Jr, who began his career with Dallas as the No. 9 overall pick of the 2017 NBA Draft, is regarded as one of the top defensive on-ball point guards and has found a niche as a solid backup point guard over the past few seasons. Should Dinwiddie and Smith Jr. land elsewhere, Malachi Flynn is also on Dallas’ radar, HoopsHype has learned. Flynn scored a career-high 50 points last season with Detroit.” RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:Bucks want a FRP for Brook| SAS+CHA Like Ingram?| MIA Likes Lauri? - Smitty - 07-05-2024 (07-05-2024, 10:38 PM)Smitty Wrote: @MavsFilmsRoom I would prefer Lowry or McLaughlin over Flynn but I’m liking the reports that they’re looking to add another PG. How many of those were able to contribute to winning even in limited role? Even CP3 was washed up at this point. We got our quota of old declining championship players with Klay, we have another champion in Kyrie. I prefer a more of hunger and looking for my next contract type of guy tbh. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:Bucks want a FRP for Brook| Mavs Interested in Dinwiddie + DSJ? - Deebo - 07-06-2024 I need my man Spencer back. Should be easy peasy RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:Bucks want a FRP for Brook| Mavs Interested in Dinwiddie + DSJ? - DL2RimRocker - 07-06-2024 (07-06-2024, 07:05 AM)Deebo Wrote: I need my man Spencer back. Should be easy peasy Yep...we need some scoring coming off that bench and DSJ brings almost nothing offensively. Spence can be a consistent scorer for us for the many games Kyrie will most likely miss and if Klay goes down for any reason. We have plenty of defense on the bench. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:Bucks want a FRP for Brook| Mavs Interested in Dinwiddie + DSJ? - Chicagojk - 07-06-2024 Is it today trades can become official? RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:Bucks want a FRP for Brook| Mavs Interested in Dinwiddie + DSJ? - Smitty - 07-06-2024 There are pros and cons to both. As with any veteran minimum signing. It may not be up to the Mavs on which they prefer, rather who’s willing to accept the role and pick the Mavs. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:Bucks want a FRP for Brook| Mavs Interested in Dinwiddie + DSJ? - DL2RimRocker - 07-06-2024 (07-06-2024, 07:21 AM)Smitty Wrote: There are pros and cons to both. As with any veteran minimum signing. Yeah, but I hope they go with offense. I'm not as high on Hardy as others and he is our only decent offensive player who can get buckets off the bench at the current time. I think Hardy will be THJ 2.0. Best player available. If he’s dissatisfied on the bench, he can play better or shove it. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:Bucks want a FRP for Brook| Mavs Interested in Dinwiddie + DSJ? - RGP1981 - 07-06-2024 I'm BORED! Need some trade goss, boss hoss. Edit: Caleb Martin going to Philly. A disgruntled player can cause locker room division. I'd rather have everyone be happy with their roles and expectations than to sign the BPA for the 15th slot and have him sit and stew. See: McGee, Javale. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:Bucks want a FRP for Brook| Mavs Interested in Dinwiddie + DSJ? - SleepingHero - 07-06-2024 Marc Stein (@TheSteinLine) Sacramento continues its pursuit of DeMar DeRozan via sign-and-trade and San Antonio has emerged as a potential third-team facilitator, league sources say. The Kings have chased DeRozan this week and Chicago is willing to facilitate a sign-and-trade but insists on a third team in the deal to take in salary. More NBA notes from me here: https://marcstein.substack.com/p/the-latest-on-lauri-markkanen-and RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:SAC Focused on DeRozan| Mavs Interested in Dinwiddie + DSJ? - SleepingHero - 07-06-2024 Evan Sidery (@esidery) The Clippers, Heat and Kings are all involved in the DeMar DeRozan sign-and-trade sweepstakes, per @ChrisBHaynes (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/thisleague-uncut-nba-free-agency-what-weve-seen-what/id1668189953?i=1000661307079). All three teams are actively looking for a willing facilitator to help their own package with the Bulls. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25:Bucks want a FRP for Brook| Mavs Interested in Dinwiddie + DSJ? - Mavs2021 - 07-06-2024 You look at the rates of players like DJJ, Martin, Hield etc. go this summer, I think we should be very comfortable to offer Hardy and Grimes 40/4 right now. They have shown enough to be at that payment level. If they ball out in their contract years, they only be much more expensive. One of them plays himself into the 80/4 FA range you got problems to retain one let alone both of them. We just got two seconds for Green. Grimes and Hardy have shown enough potential that I think we should try to extend them up to 50/4 right now. Grimes is a bit more risky, cause of the injury. I think we take a page from OKC's book and try and offer Hardy and Grimes like they did for Wiggins and Joe. ~8-10 mil a year. It’s definitely a conversation I hope they’re having. I’m honestly not sure which path is smartest. If either player is who we think they are AND they’d be willing to sign early (an assumption we can’t make, confidently) then this line of thinking could be wise. But, there’s also risk going full steam ahead on negotiations. I’m honestly not sure which path is smartest. In today's NBA, trades desperately need guys who make 8-10 mil a year to match salaries. Even if Hardy or Grimes meet expectations I can see teams still be interested in the salary. Plus they are both still very young. Pretty low risk vs. reward to me. |
