Chicago is and will be a bad team. I think Miami or Lakers or whoever wins DeRozan sweepstakes will be doing SnT directly with them, paying them draft assets to take the bad salaries. As they would pay the salary cap space teams

If i understand the rules correctly, if we decline Lawson contract we still have full bae to spend and another vet min becuase to fill the last roster spot?

If that's the case i'm really interested in:

Precius Achiuwa (BAE)
Bey (min)
Covington (min)
Nwora (min)
Saric (min)

Burks (BAE)
Tyus Jones (BAE, not realistic)
Dinwididdie (min)
Smith (min)
Hayward (min)

I wasn't aware how limited the Nuggets are with their future picks. Funny, I never heard how they mortgaged their future.

I see at least 6 wings that may be on the market. I am having trouble finding fits for all of them. I think the Kings get one. If they do, I would rate them having a good/very good offseason. Lakers and Heat are sniffing around. Maybe Memphis gets involved. I would love to see the Bucks pick one up. I have trouble finding landing spots for all of them though.

- Jerami Grant- Maybe they hold on to him for a bit. That may be risky though. He can net a solid return now. If an injury pops up....
-Kyle Kuzma- I am having trouble understanding the Wizards offseason. I thought Deni would be the one they kept. Kuzma is getting moved right?
-Brandon Ingram- I think he is moved
-Demar Derozan- FA and no reason to return to Chicago
-Cam Johnson- Am really interested to see what he brings back
-DFS- I am really surprised he wasn't traded for a 20's pick in this most recent draft. Just seemed too easy. I am wondering if anyone is giving up a future first for him? I would love him in Dallas as a backup PF, but I don't see that in the cards. Where does he go though and if a first is no included, what is the asking price.

Am I missing any other names?

Who’s the point guard the Mavs acquire to round out the roster and help get them through the time Luka misses next year? He can’t play through chronic knee pain forever. He’ll need time off, so the Mavs need a player to help them tread water. Who should it be? DSJ? Widdie? I don’t trust Hardy as a point guard and am not ready to rely that much on Exum. We need a 20 game starter who can win 11 of those games.

After Luka’s game yesterday, there’s no doubt point guard is the last need.

From my observation--he was.  He could take a fragile rookie and just for fun ruin him for years...sometimes forever.  He could also take a "veteran" and turn him into a whipping boy.  The dog house was real.

Just my observation...

Took a quick look at Hardy‘s stats:

As a PnR ballhandler he’s been in the 40+th percentile (1st year) and 50+th percentile (last season)

As an isolation player he’s been a low 20+th percentile both years

Especially the isolation numbers are brutal but it fits the eye test. I think he’s not nearly skilled enough to make up for his lack of footspeed.

The more I look at his production so far the less optimistic I get. Personally I’d feel much better with another experienced ballhandler coming here. Due to his poor playoff performances I’ve also soured on Exum.

Tyus Jones would be HUGE. Unfortunately I don’t see a path to him. They were linked to him heavily when he was drafted. Dinwiddie might have something left in his tank. I’m 50/50 on him but I could get behind the idea.

I always have a soft spot for DSJ but I think we need someone who is better in the halfcourt on offense.

Got to give Morey a ton of credit. He got it done. Time will tell if they can stay healthy and compete for a championship. Although, their roster looks great. I also believe they still may have more flexibility to make another move or two.

He was knocked for the Harden trade a bit and also when they didn't make any substantial moves at the deadline. He was proven right though and was able to deliver this offseason. I also read they have a pick swap and a first round pick of the Clippers as well in the future. Just a masterful GMing...plus they had a real interesting draft as well.

Come on Milwaukkee....do something. The more good teams in the East the better.

Hollinger says the Buddy Heild sign and trade may be lumped into the Mavs, Warriors, Detroit trade.   Speculates the Sixers may get Gui Santos in return.   He is speculating but says this would allow the sixers to use Santos and Paul Reed to look at DFS or Caris Levert.

Does that mean no picks for DFS.   Either way, that would be a fantastic move by Philly.

This is where I'm at also. F Gump posted a depth chart yesterday, and I disagreed with Gaff starting over Lively but that's not important. What is important, is that I see a hole at bench PG the same way you do. And like you, I don't trust Hardy in that role.

We already know Exum will miss time and he's the only real PG on the bench. Add that to Kyrie and Luka missing time. Plus, reducing Luka's minutes overall. There's a real role for a bench PG to get burn throughout the year.

Edit: This was the depth chart F Gump posted.

C - Gafford, Lively, Powell      [Maxi]
PF - PJW, Maxi, Omax           [Naji]
SF - Klay, Naji (Lawson?)        [PJW] [Grimes] [Exum]
SG - Kyrie, Grimes, Hardy      [Exum] [Klay] (Lawson?)
PG - Luka, Exum                      [Kyrie] [Hardy]

Lebron James signs a 2 yr/104 million extension. They effectively can't obtain any assets via trades now. This knocks them out of acquiring DeMar DeRozen. They'll go into next season with basically the same roster as last year.

Yeah, I wouldn't count on Joel and PG both to stay healthy. Also, Playoff P is not a real thing.

The Derozan fit was terrible, I don't blame LeBron for taking the max on a team he knows will be a play-in team at best.

This is about as close to the max Bronny could've signed for as a 2nd round pick.

Is there a scenario where the Mavs use their last 2 FRP's, Maxi's contract (and smaller stuff) to get a POA defender?

Maxi could maybe be traded, but I don't think Dallas will be trading 1sts for anything but a starter upgrade. And the starting lineup is pretty set right now.

I think Maxi is probably here to stay.   Probably not here more than a year though.   Personally,  I would love Maxi plus something else for DFS.  I think DFS fits as a backup 4.  Some may disagree.  Really liked him in our run a few years ago playing PF.  I just don't think we have a package for him.  So probably just makes sense to hold what we have and then have assets at the trade deadline or next summer.

I'm not convinced it's going to be a big problem, but if it is then I'd expect them to address it prior to the TDL.
