Sure, the D is bad.  But 9th offensively? That’s ok, but not great. A Luka led team should be at the top. Didn’t RC have the Mavs O rating close to or near first?  The current Mavs coaching staff really is terrible.

So do we wish that we had Kidd during Luka's rookie/sophomore year and then had Rick Carlisle for the finish!

I don't put much on Luka.  He clearly has some things he needs to work on.   I think he eventually gets them figured out...although my concern is it won't be here.    Some of the things he needs to improve will impact his legacy, but he is not the reason we have sucked lately.  Although his recent play has not been great despite his normal stats.   His play for the first half of the season was great.   You really don't see the change of direction he had earlier in the year.  Right now, he is relying mostly on strength.  I am not sure if that is an injury or health thing.

I am still pissed that we had several games where Luka played the full second half of tight games.  I said it at the time that this was recipe for disaster.    It feel like all the miles this year caught up to him.    To feel like you couldn't rest Luka 5 minutes says a lot about the roster construction and coaching.

Agreed.
Luka playing out of his mind and putting up Wilt-like numbers for the first 2-3 month of the season was the sole reason why some people didn´t notice the obvious flaws of the roster/coaching staff/management. A lot of us mentioned that what he was doing wasn´t sustainable and that is exactly what happened.
Doesn´t mean that Luka is beyond criticism but his recent level of play is far from the biggest problem of the team.

Luka Tech rescinded…so he can play.  Hield is out and Haliburtan and Turner are questionable.  Seems like tonight is the night screw themselves and # 11 becomes a strong reality.

If Mavs Mgmt has decided to tank, this is a crossroads game. How do you get your much-needed loss when your best guys are intent on playing, while theirs will be coming to the game in street clothes?

Can the game be manipulated to see Luke get his 40, and Kyrie his 25, but on really bad shooting?

Apparently you just have to wait 48 minutes of game time based on recent results.

Embiid is beefing with Dwight for some reason.

Insecurity is strong with this one. Don´t want to imagine how he reacts if Jokic gets another well deserved MVP award over him.

Second year in a row they're going to get hosed by a rescinded tech. Awesome.

To the people saying we’re tanking on purpose…

Didn’t the Mavs just protest a game over a missed call? Then Cuban wore a “question authority” tshirt to the next game.

When exactly do you think they decided to tank?

I don't see it either. Looks to me like they want to cross the finish line but the tank is empty.

Can someone tell me what switch is flipped for this team in the playoffs if that same switch isn’t flipped right now?

I think they played pretty well against Philly. Them shooting almost 50 % from three is what killed Mavs. On the other hand, Mavs were shooting 4 of 17 on wide open threes. Philly was 9 of 17.

Of course the season was lost before. They just don't have any capability to win against bad teams unless giving their 100 %. Which they don't do a lot of time. Just pointing out they can play well when locked in.

The big question is can they play well consistently against good competition? Because that’s what the playoffs are all about. Or are they just inconsistent no matter the strength of the opposition because they can‘t defend and rebound a lick?

I looked at the standings earlier and it dawned on me that we have lost to every single team under the play in line in both conferences I believe.
