The Denver Nuggets have a pathway to replace Kentavious Caldwell-Pope with a starter-level guard.
If they unload Zeke Nnaji’s $8.9 million, and sign and trade Pope to Orlando, they could use his outgoing salary toward up to a $21 million player. Bogdan Bogdanovic and Norman Powell come to mind as players who could fit in this scenario.
They could make this all work while fielding a 14 man roster under the $188.9

KPJ was good playing a Houston and he is still a good player. maybe we have made a bid for him but he would rather choose the chance to get more money (or future money), which he has already lost a lot. playing in LA he would have a bigger role to play since Russ and George are both possible gone and LA is a big market, that's definitely a better choice than being luka and kyrie's backup while also facing the competition with a bunch of young talents on the backcourt.

He's also the dude that threw a tantrum in CLE, tried to fight an assistant coach, threw food at an assistant coach, and was waived for nothing because of such a locker room cancer.

I still am glad the Mavs stayed away as far as possible.

The Orlando Magic have about $28 million left in cap space after signing Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to three years, $66 million.
That's assuming Pope gets flat $22 million cap hits. The Magic typically structure deals like that or descending.

They actually have a lot of flexibility as long as they stay under the Apron, which they have to do anyhow if they trade for Klay -- in any particular trade they can do a 200% match. It's just a matter of figuring out what to do, then doing it in the right order, and perhaps combining 2 or 3 trades into one deal to join the TPE's all into one.

I don't care about optics, because optics really only matters to losers... if you think about it.
I like winning. Really, no one cares about anything else, in sports. History only remembers the winners. Ask GSW, ask Curry, ask KD, ask Lebron, etc. We celebrate them, despite them making some of the weakest moves in the history of basketball and in the history of optics.

dude is a good player and players of that talent level are simply beyond our reach most times. but the potential of him causing locker room disharmony is a risk that has to be considered. he may be a good signing on the right deal (partially guaranteed contract for example) though.

[Wind] Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was a great Nugget, but he's turning 32 next year with a ton of miles/minutes on him. He also got exposed defensively in the playoffs vs. Anthony Edwards. I think Denver would rather the flexibility and wonder if KCP also didn't mind a change of scenery.

I’m reading a lot of folks who claim Denver’s offer was 3-years at almost the same money. Seems like dude just wanted out, which raises all sorts of questions.
