He is a PITA and an old school guy like Riley didn't know how best to put up with that type of a player, but Bron never came out of shape. He never played just one side of the ball. Curry is another of those who has won a handful of titles recently. He moves so well without the ball and is always in tremendous shape, even though he is not a great defensive player. Im not sure how much it's a light bulb going off I think it's mainly him taking off a few months so his leg could heal up finally He can finally attack the paint again for the first time since a bit before the Kyrie trade The weightloss will be more of a factor towards the end of the season assuming he actually keeps it off RE: GAME 2: Washington Wizards (0-1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (0-1) | 7:30pm CST - RoyTarpleysGhost - 10-24-2025 (10-24-2025, 11:32 PM)Smitty Wrote: Jason Kidd on P.J. I understand the national commitments and not recovering from injuries, but who plays a ton of highly competitive international games in the offseason and comes back fatter? Losing that weight is a big part of the light bulb coming on for him. Again, I love his talent and truly call him generational. I have never seen anyone like him. Not even MJ. He makes scoring against other superbly fit professionals look easy. So easy that I sometimes feel he takes bad 3 pt shots, because he is bored. He can get to the paint and an easier bucket anytime he wants. HATE.Accidental and 1. Maybe it would be better if your power went out again. Your on a bad roll. Holy smokes. We witnessed a guy turning this franchise around, leading us to multipe deep playoff runs, picking up 5 or 6 all nba season awards in row all before turning 26. Your posts are extremely ignorant right now. It’s not Luka‘s fault that this franchise collapsed in an all time remarkable fashion from being a finals team to whatever their horrendous record has been since the trade. It’s GREAT that there is no safety net called Dirk or Luka anymore. We already have months of actual horrendous results but I guess we‘ll need at least another season for even the last ones to understand that the grass is not always greener on the other side. Luka wasnt perfect by any means but the results at a young age are undeniable. This is all just the start. A year from now they wont even have control of their picks anymore at that point your chances of lucking into another Luka/Dirk will drastically go down further. Dooms day times are ahead of this franchise and they have nobody but themselves to blame. RE: GAME 2: Washington Wizards (0-1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (0-1) | 7:30pm CST - JamesConway912 - 10-25-2025 BTW a few weeks ago Davis has publicly confirmed that he is „ten to twelve pounds“ above his playing weight right now and that he is using the regular season to shed those pounds and reach his normal playing weight. But I guess we only apply certain standards when it fits to the narrative… RE: GAME 2: Washington Wizards (0-1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (0-1) | 7:30pm CST - Mavs2021 - 10-25-2025 (10-24-2025, 11:38 PM)ThisIStheYear Wrote: There’s actually some stuff here I agree with, finally. But I had a hell of a good time two years ago watching Luka walk down the TWolves and even two years before that when an incredibly inferior team ruined the Phoenix franchise. That was fun. But yes, Carlisle leaving may have cost this team a ring. Luka probably bears some responsibility for that. Live and learn. I don´t think so. Luka has never had any reported issue with coaches and he played for some hard-ass coaches. I think the main responsibility of who Carlisle became lies with Mark Cuban, whose utter shitshow of decade long failure (not just building a roster, but the sexual misconduct stuff etc.) just grinded Carlisle down to the point he took it out on some players like Salah Mejri. It took Indiana two years to build a sufficient roster for him. And nobody would argue it´s spectacular, but it´s not Trey Burke and Dwight Powell either. Happy Indiana is not Destructive Dallas. A lot of players come with some extra muscle mass. Kobe always did to compensate for the loss of muscle mass and weight during the season. Luka came overweight. That caused slow starts, nagging injuries and affected his ability to get back in defense. That’s why the narrative is different. Again no one is excusing that horrendous trade where a clueless GM gave a generational player away. Most GMs would have got more for Lively than Nico got for Luka. The trade I don’t get at all and never will. The concerns for a supermax I fully get even though I would have paid that if I were the GM. They could have always traded him for more than they got, supermax or not. There would always be many teams who are wallowing like the Mavs now who would give anything to have someone draw crowds in. Luka is one of the few who can draw crowds whenever he plays whether I or anyone else personally like that style of basketball or not. He is definitely a box office draw RE: GAME 2: Washington Wizards (0-1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (0-1) | 7:30pm CST - hakeemfaan - 10-25-2025 (10-25-2025, 01:33 AM)Mavs2021 Wrote: I don´t think so. Luka ran RC out. You can say RC could be a jerk too and deserved some of the abuse that Luka gave him but it was still shocking to me that a player would openly taunt his coach. What about coming out of shape? What about hunting for bad 3 point shots when he is truly unstoppable in the paint and has a great mid range game? What about not moving without the ball or getting back on defense as he played himself into shape? Isn’t that the reason that Donnie also had some words/advice for Luka the season before he was let go? It seemed like internally the team knew that despite all his great play there was another level that he could get to with some simple changes, but those changes never came here. I would have still waited for it to come here and would have accepted it if it never did than the terrible trade the Mavs made. However we cannot just pretend that trade happened for no reason at all and that Luka was perfectly fine here. I'm not going to argue with you because you're one of the best contributors on here, but personally I don't care for your Luka bashing. You can cheer the current team without trashing a guy that never wanted to leave the Mavs. RE: GAME 2: Washington Wizards (0-1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (0-1) | 7:30pm CST - KillerLeft - 10-25-2025 (10-25-2025, 08:21 AM)I’m BigDirk41 Wrote: Absurdly ridiculous take Killer. Unfortunately this is a players league. The question you should ask is how the Mavs organisation were incapable of doing what the Lakers (seemingly) and Real Madrid had no problems with. Clearly they failed to hit the right buttons in seven years. That´s their fault. I know that might not be fair, but it´s the truth. But what´s done is done. Now it´s time for Dumont to f****** execute Nico publically, crawl in front of the fans and ask for forgiveness. There is no healing until you remove the franchise killer from the arena. Pay the best GM money can buy and sell off AD/Klay. I don´t think a single fan will give a f***, if the new GM trades AD, cause.... AD does not have the skills, the charming personality, killer instinct or the physical fitness to EVER overcome being the guy traded for Luka. Every time he misses two free throws, jogs around midcourt and then falls asleep there to cause multiple amateurish turnovers the crowd will just moan and groan. He only instigates the crowd further. The team will be bad this year. Klay Thompson is so finished it´s not even funny anymore. -36.1 on/off. Start the Flagg era with Lively and PJ Washington. That´s three players that love Dallas and that the fans will love back. RE: GAME 2: Washington Wizards (0-1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (0-1) | 7:30pm CST - ThisIStheYear - 10-25-2025 So, back to this year’s team. DLive was unquestionably the best Mav on the floor last night yet could only get 19 minutes, muting his excellent game. Why? Foul trouble? Nope, just one foul. It was a product of an idiotically constructed roster. Just imagine how bad it will be, how much waste we’ll see rotting on the bench, once Gafford returns. The Mavs really need to get what they can for AD while they still can. He can’t stretch the floor and is thus a still very good, but redundant piece. There must be a team that already has a stretch 4 or stretch 5 who Davis could compliment with his excellent, old fashion, low and mid post game and interior defense? Or, is he that much of a dinosaur who doesn’t have much of a market? Maybe the utter shock of getting traded and losing out on a supermax woke up Luka than anything that the Lakers franchise has done. I am not going to absolve him there. As mentioned the Mavs were a circus but Dirk was always a professional. Bron has always been a high maintenance diva but has alwa been in top notch shape. Totally agree with the rest of your post. RE: GAME 2: Washington Wizards (0-1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (0-1) | 7:30pm CST - Chicagojk - 10-25-2025 Despite me having Youtubetv and also getting league pass on prime, I did not get the game last night. So I had to scramble for unreliable illegal streams, so it wasn’t an enjoyable watch. The team played a factor in it too. I know Flagg had some bad turnovers and was a little uneven, but check out these highlights. A lot to like. Have him handle the ball a lot. Just don’t make him the primary ball handler often or be the only ball handler on the court. Love PJ but him dribbling up the court is an experience. Your shooting guard is famous for scoring 50 with like 8 dribbles one game. Even with the big lineup, if you add a connector who pushes the pace they at least become interesting. I am not sure that is DLO. The question is who? https://youtu.be/v0Se8A0-clU RE: GAME 2: Washington Wizards (0-1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (0-1) | 7:30pm CST - vfromlmf - 10-25-2025 To be perfectly honest, the only time I’ve been impressed with AD was that first game. He puts up numbers but I never feel like he’s dominating in any way. It’s not like he’s drawing double teams on every possession. Feels like other teams play pretty straight up. AD gets his but it doesn’t lead to winning. RE: GAME 2: Washington Wizards (0-1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (0-1) | 7:30pm CST - Chicagojk - 10-25-2025 Also the lack of runs is concerning. Every team gets cold, but they can typically survive. Last night they had a good first quarter. Wizards hit 4 threes late to keep it close. Then Dallas started the second quarter and went like 6 minutes without scoring. That can’t happen. Unfortunately that may not be a one off either. It may be who this team is. I can’t remember who was in the game….it may be a lot of the players I like. In the fourth they made a run. Once they put the olds with Hardy back it fizzled out. There were 3-4 possessions when they came back where they just ruined any chance of a comeback. To be fair that included a few Flagg turnovers. As him getting the ball on the perimeter and just holding it and then deciding to go 1 on 1. That is not even close to the sabonis offense. The sets are so robotic. Can we just have ball movement and cutting? They have several guys who should fit this type of play really well. RE: GAME 2: Washington Wizards (0-1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (0-1) | 7:30pm CST - KillerLeft - 10-25-2025 Man, the post game interviews are scary. There’s already a hint of a combative vibe between the players/coach and the reporters, and I was surprised at some of the takeaways mentioned by the players/coach. The defense was obviously not what they want it to be, and I get that, but I think it’s delulu that they seem to believe they played a good offensive game and just “missed some easy shots.” I don’t want to overreact, but I’m getting pretty worried. RE: GAME 2: Washington Wizards (0-1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (0-1) | 7:30pm CST - hakeemfaan - 10-25-2025 AD is still a solid player. He was never an alpha though even when younger and now that he is older and slower it is standing out more. I hear folks saying to put AD at the 5. My feeling is start Lively, AD, Naji, DLo and Brandon Williams. Bring Cooper/PJ as the backup 3/4 for now They can be interchanged in those roles and some games PJ can start but let Cooper come off the bench for now . Klay should be strictly off the bench the rest of his career. Hardy should get more mins than Nembhardt. Hardy for all his flaws can get buckets. . |
