Slowly making our way counterclockwise along the graph aiming for that top right quadrant. We need to move the needle the right way there and in the standings. Must win game.
Ya, this would be a statement game if we pull it out.
Who's going to guard that monster in the middle?

Poewll and Boban are our only hopes, Boban is the only one who can push back. Powell...I shutter to think.

Jalen Brunson will bite his ankles and Powell will affect his concentration with his hilarious layup attempts.
The key to win this one is not in stopping Embiid, it is in stopping others. "Let" Embiid have 40, but do your job on the rest.
I haven't watched a ton of Philly this year yet, so there's some guessing here, but I think this might be a decent time to force some Boban minutes.

People are always focused on his bigman matchup, but most often I think it's the type of opposing ball-handler that determines whether Carlisle will play him. For example, he played against both Williams and Theis in the Boston game, but I'm pretty sure NONE of his minutes happened while Kemba Walker was on the floor. This is probably an effort to avoid giving up too many wide open pullup jumpers off of screens (Walker missed a ton in that game, anyway, but he IS lethal as a pick and roll guard when playing well). Brown and Pritchard were both unable to take advantage of Boban's feet with the jumper, though they tried.

Again, haven't watched a ton of Philly this season, but I'm guessing Simmons has the ball a lot, like in past years. If so, he's not super equipped to take advantage of Boban's weaknesses. I could see Boban playing quite a bit tonight. I also think WCS needs to have a big game tonight, and I feel like Johnson will get a crack at guarding Embiid, too.

I'm imagining JB in a JVG pose holding onto his leg.  Big Grin
Boban has a certain level of familiarity with guarding Embiid too.
Embiid is scoring as many points as he wants to tonight. It's the other guys we need to stop. Can't have someone like Harris or Green go off.
Imo, if the Mavs can just shoot thees 35% or higher, a win is doable.
Man I have no idea how you contain Embiid. Ideally you build a wall and make him shoot outside but that's easier said than done. He can just run around Boban pretty easily. I don't see how we are going to be able to hang with Philly unless they have a really bad shooting night. I do think Mavs perimeter defense has been looking without KP so we will see if that trend continues.

Making him switch on Luka and Luka puting him in foul trouble
Crazy Prediction:  5x 3PM for DFS.
Pretty sure Simmons is going to start out on Luka. He's one of the league's best perimeter defenders, and has the length and foot speed to affect him. Now whether that happens, remains to be seen. If Luka gets him in foul trouble, game over.

Powell's layups lol, they were bad.

Mavs are just putting screens until the opponent switches. I think Curry would be easiest target for Luka. Embiid next.
