Here’s where I am with Green:

He has NBA plus size and athletic ability for his position. He has shown strong instincts for defense and for moving without the ball on offense. He can’t shoot well enough to play yet.

If he is focused on becoming a good professional and has a good work ethic he will come back from the next off-season with an improved catch and shoot game and will begin to get minutes. If not, he will bust, at least here in Dallas.

It’s all dependent on what type of person he is, or at least on whether he fully grasps and appreciates the reality of the opportunity in front of him. Many 18-22 year olds wouldn’t. I’m sure every team employs an extensive process to determine whether or not each draft prospect has the personality drive to become a good professional, but since that’s probably nearly impossible to do, it’s a bit of a crap shoot.

Wake me up this time next year and we can start forming opinions about Green. Terry, too, for that matter, but I personally have a feeling about him already. Smart people like him usually rise to the top of every possession, even sports.
Nice Highlights from Green.   His pull up jumper looks good as does his assists and steal numbers.  His finishing at the rim still looks a little odd to me.  Almost like he makes it more difficult.  I want to see him explode to the rim.  Maybe that doesn't make sense and I am probably not explaining it very well.

For me, not a lot of the G-league players will have long NBA careers.   Not to say they aren't very good, but making the NBA is really hard.  So I want to see Green and Bey (especially with him being an older rookie) pass the eye test and feel like they are the best players on the court.

I have spent very little time watching college basketball this year and because the Mavs don't have a first round pick, I have paid even less attention.  Although if the Mavs want to add a tough big man, I think they should target Illinois' big man.  I have no idea if he is tough, but with his name he had to grow up tough.  His is 7 feet and his name is Kofi Cockburn.

This has always been Green's biggest issue. It is why I thought he wasn't a good target in the draft. It is weird how bad and unnatural he is around the rim if he isn't dunking it. Has a decent floater though.

I'll see that, and raise you this: I don't understand why he doesn't dunk on more of his attempts. He often seems to be in position to do so, but usually opts for that awkward, too strong layup instead. It's as if someone told him "don't be a hotdog like those Americans when you go over there" or something. Bizarre, imo.
Green has a grown man's body, but it looks like he hasn't fully grown into it(I hope it makes sense what I'm trying to say). And one thing I also noticed it that he avoids contact, maybe it's a footbal thing(I don't watch a lot of football, but if he played it, I'm 100% he was the guy running with the ball the get the touchdowns, or the guy that catches it - If I'm not wrong those players try to avoid contact as much as they can(LOL at my football knowledge Big Grin )

He is the exact opposite of Luka, but I think Luka can tech him how to use that body/strenght. Also I love the defense and passing(he makes some stupid TO's but I think it's an underrated aspect of his game).
Also the shot will come, that I am confident with.
I still don't see it with Green. Maybe he'll look a lot better playing off better players in the NBA.
Rough shooting night from Green.   Second one in three games.   Bey did not play tonight.
Green's ability to play in the NBA will all come down to whether he can develop a dependable 3 point shot and become some semblence of a Bruce .   I'm not worried about his work ethic.   Dude's motor is off the charts on the floor and by all accounts he's a bonafide gym rat.   That doesn't necessarily translate into developing a 3 point shot.    Some players similar to Green have and some players similar to Green haven't.   It's not like Michael Carter-Williams and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist didn't have physical talent or didn't put time in the gym.

so Green CAN Dunk!

The rookies did their job out there...all you wanted was for them to go out there and be productive given the circumstance. Green got there halfway into the schedule, Bey was reassigned to that team after like 2 games. Since there was no Texas Legends, it these were just make-shift rosters full of random players and coaches.

Hope there is a summer league this year where we can really see how they play
I hope Bey gets some run after the All Star break.
