I have zero concerns.  When you have 6 rotation players missing from your roster, you're simply not going to win.  My main concern is health.  Hopefully KP can suck it up and play on a 2nd night of a back to back.  Hopefully Brunson and THJ will be available tomorrow.  We need to win these type games.  Sucks to lose to the Chicagos and Charlottes of the world.  Tomorrow is a big game against Toronto.  Do we lead the league in playing back to back games and road games for that matter?  This is a brutal start to the schedule.  We just need to weather the storm.
Not even gonna read this thread, as I’m pretty sure I know what’s contained within.

Just want to remind everyone that six (6!!) of the team’s 9 regular rotation players are out. They will very likely lose tomorrow, too. Probably quite a few more.

Try to stay calm.
I would trade anyone on the roster not named Luka for LaVine. This heavy-usage Luka + a bunch of spot-up shooters (including Porzingis) isn't sustainable long-term and that's even if we had a full roster. In today's NBA, you need multiple creators. Maybe they think Luka can't play off the ball as much but if he's a truly great player then he will figure it out. LeBron played with Wade and Kyrie. The Rockets almost made it to the Finals with Harden and CP3. If those two heavy-usage players could do it then so can Luka.

THJ and Powell once again get the most blame for being out...
@"omahen" This game proves your point we need another playmaker.

Luka - Team high 15 Assists
Everybody else -  3 assists
This one is for all those who think Mavs don't need another facilitator. Not one playing behind Luka as Brunson but one capable of (also) playing with him. Mavs had zero offense with Luka off the court. Mavs were only able to rest him for three minutes in the whole first half. And then some wise guys here to call out Luka for his defense. At the load he was carrying on the other end!?

Not much too say about the game. Mavs missed too many guys. Good perimeter defense by Iwundu and Green but really bad game from the whole PF/C line on defense. KP was blocked like 5 times in the first half (somehow he has 0 turnovers???). Even Bobi was an offensive disaster. Non Luka guys shot 2-20 from three.  Non Luka guys managed 3 assists and 11 turnovers.

With Mavs resting KP tomorrow for sure, we can just hope Brunson and THJ return.

Mavs' three seven footers -- 16
Luka                               -- 16

Sadly, Luka is the team's best rebounder.

Been saying this all season. Do you really think the Mavs are 50 pts better than the Clippers? I don't. Strange shit happens.
If no Brunson tomorrow, Coach will try to get Johnson and Burke to be more pass first. Rather more so on Burke, its just that his game is more of rhythm scorer, than get-team-involve player.  Johnson tied Luka with 5 turnovers. He had the right thought to pass it, but not the right direction to give it to the other team.

Terry could get more minutes, his defense was there, he actually defends the perimeter well. Needs to get better the pick and roll defense though. His got bursts to drive to the rim once he gets a step ahead.

Well, take that all back. Brunson is coming back for tomorrow.

Well if it´s not an excuse for Lavine. Wink

Guess Lavine focused on the defense and passing today. 10 assists, 3 steals, +11, while Luka went for the empty stats. Tongue

Good.  At least Brunson is relentless in driving the lane and seems able to draw some fouls and get to the line in doing so.

Smile I am in the bring LaVine to Dallas club. Or any other facilitator (Oladipo, DeRozan) if the price is right. Luka will look like a shell of himself at TDL with all the load he is expected to carry. This is not sustainable.

Some of us have been saying this for MONTHS...but sure, let’s give @"omahen" all the credit.

61:22 bench points killed us, Burke just did not have his day, 13 ass from bulls bench us mavs 1 ...
mavs shut down bulls 2 stars but others stepped in big time
first half D first 5,6 minutes excluded was with to low effort consequently O was not on the needed level
but
KP made small step ahead in 2ndQ
12 OREB us 5 is good by 47 REBs each team
2nd half was not bad

@KL is certainly right with his pessimism, even RC backed up his thoughts in pregame interview, it's not rocket science to see handicapped mavs in real light.
But in this moments we should search good things in this bad situation which will eventually help mavs in the future.
Not much of consequence here. I guess the Bulls are last years Knicks. Swept by a bad team early in the season again. It happens, nothing to panic about.

The silver lining is Josh Green got some real run.

Iwundu and Green are absolutely awesome perimeter defenders against guards. They completely stopped LaVine and White. Problem were big wings (Markanen, Young and Porter) that scored 58 points. Kleber and DFS would have helped in this regard.

Problem is that both cannot or won´t shoot on offense.  Right now it is really difficult for Luka to get in the paint because he is running into a wall of defenders. Both had some good drives/cuts in the 2nd half but the Mavs need more shooting in the lineup.

Of course it is. But the problem really is that we had to start both of them and WCS. So three non shooters. Three guys that are no where near able to be a number three or four guys on offense. I could see each of them as fine 5th starter. Unfortunately Mavs are full of these types. They have to consolidate for a better top heavy roster. You can't play 10 number 5 guys...
Random Observations.

- Luka is a Superstar.

- WCS is a nice fit. But is he horrible finishing around the rim. He had so many opportunity, so close to basket, layups almost, and he misses. The worst thing? Its not just a one time thing. Its a trend over many games. He doesnt have that natural feel, to finish and score. He is very well to come into that position to get the ball. He plays solid D.

- KP was a monster protecting the paint last season. Blocking anyone attempting to come close to our rim. That is almost non existent in the first two games of the season. Hope this comes back, because the KP, the defender, we really need that. Is that the injury, or lack of game shape? It's like he cant jump and block, like he used to.

- The level of Josh Green is G-League. He makes nice effort, yes. He can sort of rebound, and makes surprising offensive cuts, and rebounds and efforts. But he doesn't have that feel for the game. His shooting is horrible. Hard to watch some of the other players we could have had, S. Bey / Bane / Haliburton (with trading up). At the moment, he (Green) should play in the G-league. Same with the other rookies. The level of their play was just not worthy of the NBA. Terry, has some NBA level instincts, this is clear. He needs more game time. He didnt get enough minutes as he should. Iwundu is doing suprisingly well, his level of play is a player we should keep in rotation.

- Johnson, Terry, they should have played much more. Johnson is such a good player. Makes smart experienced decisions. He had several chances around the rim where I think he should have attacked, while he hesitated, and made the pass. He needs to attack more. Overall, this is such a great addition. He is building great chemistry with Luka.

- When Luka is not playing. Need to create more designed plays for the other players. They just cant do the same stuff as Luka does. Here we need some off ball screens, get guys open for some mid range shots etc. The offense simply needs to change. We got behind trying to play the same way with players just unable to do that. Make some designed plays. Secondary playmaker is needed.

- I will say this again. Its worrying with KP and WCS how weak we looked protecting our own paint and rim. Maxi is so much missed here. KP needs to bring his defensive game back. We have been dominated inside last two games. Cant win like that.
