Wow! Score one for @"omahen" and John Hollinger, potentially.
incoming Scott meltdown

edit: LMAO he beat me to it
Unless he's opting out to get an extension (here) I don't get it. I'm still optimistic about this.
Well if we assume WCS opts out and Porzingis definitely misses the start of the season, they might actually draft a big.

Naaa, draft priorties, best available.

I still want S Bey and Woodard.

The big can be sign or traded for.
I'd want to get as far away from Carlisle as I can if I was WCS too; he'd be fighting for minutes with Barea/Powell.

You forgot to login to your bartlettbear account.
Just don´t outbid yourself again. No Powell 2.0. If he wants to walk away he is free to do so. If he really wants to stay he opts in. No MLE money, no bigger contract.

It was pointed out earlier that it could be better for WCS and the Mavs if he opted out and signed a new one-year (perhaps one-and-one) deal. It would somehow make his cap hold lower, while giving him early Bird rights.

Yes please. I think Donnie basically said this much. Powell will be ready and there are plenty of FA centers to cover the hole.

On a more personal note - I would really like to see they give a shot to Hartenstein Smile

That´s fine. As long as he doesn´t end up with something like a 30/3 deal when no other team was willing to offer more than the minimum.
Opt out =/= leave.

If I was a decent backup center and knew that KP may still be rehabbing to start the season, I'd probably ask for a raise as well.
