Not this year but during my residency it was completly normal to work on Christmas day or New Years Eve. Hope you still find some time for yourself and the family.

Oh yeah, I'm off from noon through the rest of the week. I could have taken off today too but I'm trying to mitigate damage to the PTO bank. I like to save as much time as possible for other vacations. :-)

I got from yesterday through Jan 1st off as paid holiday time...
