Didn’t find the Powell option so went second best in Exum.   Big Grin

Depending on the severity of Kyrie's injury my own personal bias might mean troglodyte big man won't make an appearance again this season on a Dirkie poll.

We'll see Shy
Exum. Give that man a permanent starting gig. Just as the Australian national team, I’ve concluded Exum > Green.
Exum, with Green and Williams out we needed him to step up and he did
Exum put on his big boy pants last night

Another player that benefitted from going to Europe, and probably hung around the NBA too long.

In football it´s common to loan players to other leagues to gain playing experience. I wonder what the NBA CBA says with regards to NBA teams loaning out players to Europe to get playing time. It´s certainly more valuable than the no stakes G-League.

Bruno is another example and is probably ready for another try. Bonga another to keep an eye on. Maybe the careers of Larkin and Beaubois play out slightly differently, if the Mavs had send them to Europe on loan. In the end they had respectable careers as the startging backcourt of the Euro League champions.
Exum for sure. It is great to see how he can play both with Kyrie and Luka and do his thing. He won't defer at all times just because he is on the floor with either Luka or Kyrie.

I still think we have to watch his minutes. He has a injury history and the season is long, but he has been a fabulous addition.

Some players just take a long time to develop.  I remember seeing an article on how few NBA rookies actually contribute at any meaningful level in their first year.

Lively is in a very small minority.

This is why bombastic proclamations about OMax not being an NBA player are so ridiculous. Maybe he is, and maybe he isn't.  There's just no way to tell this soon.

...and little flashes of brilliance are no guarantee, either.  Remember Roddy B?

He may have to play more minutes in these upcoming ones. Green is out next game and I wouldn't be surprised if Kyrie is out too but I'm waiting for an update on his injury. He was getting gassed pretty quick in this one, he's not used to that many minutes
Exum is legit! Very interested to see how great he can be with more minutes. Right now I am seeing a player who defenses can't stay in front of, who is aggressive with the ball in either trying to score or make the right pass, and is also a quality defender. Yes, the quality of the past 2 opponents hasn't been good but I've noticed these abilities all season long, even in limited minutes.

I'm not too worried about his lack of 3-point shooting. He is not reliant on that part of his offensive game at all - even if he misses, he is going to find the way to move the ball and be effective on the floor.

I'm not worried about him missing 3's, I'm worried about his man causing problems for Luka/Kyrie because he knows Exum can't shoot 3's. I love everything else about him, and I hope he continues to workout well, don't get me wrong.

He´s shooting 40% from three, when he plays 15+ minutes, which would be in line with his European shooting over the last two years. Shoots 14%, when he does not. Either way the sample size is very small.

Sure, but the sample size I have of seeing the defense sag way off him is large enough to give me a bit of pause.

Ya, remember that Tor game where they played waaaay off him. In the playoffs it’ll be more pick your poison in that way. Still a lot of games ahead to solidify his % though. If they do it more and more to him he’ll have to start taking them, so my guess is we will see.

I see Lively’s play pretty close to that as well (play that can be semi-easily gameplanned against), we’ll see if beating up these bottom dwellers helps his confidence or whatever to get past it, but last Mem game was a clinic on what to do with him. We’ll see as the season progresses.

I totally agree with this. On offense, he's in the same boat as Powell. The rolls can be taken away, it's just that we should see Luka feast as a result. As with Powell, some people might claim this means Lively isn't playing well, but the reality is that the defense has to commit to take the lob away, so the things that are available will be a credit to Lively, in a sense.

On defense, I think he's going to be fine in the paint. I wonder who will try to play him off the floor with shooting, and whether they'll be successful.

I saw Holmes pick 2 guys with 1 pick set twice in a game earlier this season. Luka was dancing around in the lane and Holmes turned on his man to pick him who basically picked the guy guarding Luka which allowed Luka to go in for an uncontested layup. I’ve seen all our C’s set multiple picks in 1 play to get Luka open, but I don’t remember ever seeing that. If Lively can figure THAT maneuver out? I’ll start jumping on the this year bandwagon with him.
