Per Marc Stein, Cuban is selling the majority of his shares in the Mavs. He's getting his money out, to do something else. (Or maybe he's been hurting financially, cash-strapped, as many have opined, with the shift in the economics?)

But he will still be the guy in charge of running the franchise.

Opinions? Would you rather see him out of the picture entirely? It looks like he will have a boss, if he stupidly runs the thing into the ground.
Not good news. Gambling taking control of sports is a bad thing for society. Cuban keeps control of the basketball decisions and is free to meddle forever.
Wonder how Cuban was able to finagle ongoing control of basketball ops? Looks like a pretty good deal for the buyer given some recent sales The Athletic reported.
With the widow of a mobster in charge it is time for a rebrand. How about "Dallas Day Parole" playing in the "Dallas Detention Center". Trade targets. Bridges, Porter Jr and Hayes.
Seriously.
I'm not sure what to think of this.

Happy Cuban is selling, but not super thrilled about who he's selling to.

And, while he has a boss, if they aren't motivated to put their own people in place to run basketball opps, I'm not sure I fully understand their motivation to purchase the team, really. Nor do I expect they'll be interested in whether or not Cuban is doing a good job. I'm uneasy about all of that.
On the other hand...

Is it possible Cuban is doing this because he knows the team is about to have to pay tons of luxury tax in the coming years and doesn't want to be stuck with the bill? In other words, is this his way of finally letting the Mavs be a tax team?

Seriously.

Keep em' coming. Fascinating.
Holy shit I can't believe my sig actually came true..........
Good News - Cuban can now be fired. Bad News - Mavs relocated to Las Vegas.
Its all about legalizing gambling in Texas and building a Casino/Resort/Arena. Its all here in this article from a year ago.

The Adelson family is worth somewhere around 33 billion, perhaps there's something to this...
Kyrie probably not too happy about the new ownership.
Needs to be casino related right? Both can help make that a reality in Dallas and in tune make billions, right? And Cuban holds on to the. Basketball side as the dollars roll into the casino.

Right?

I have other opinions but I will hold them for now.
Considering everything, the sell price is shockingly low, equivalent to a 25% stake in small market Milwaukee. This is mystifying news and likely very bad over the medium term.

This is definitely a glass half full look.

Was just thinking this. But it's not like Cuban wasn't outspoken and pro Israel either.

Although if they are a silent owner and Cuban still runs the day to day (ooooof) then I'm not sure this will matter much anyways

How about this. Mavs get a two in one deal. Sterling meets Fertitta. We can have racist BS, corruption and union busting. Don't have to pick.
I'm not sure there's any good reason to have an opinion one way or the other.

I get the new arena thing posted in the article. I don't see much else to have an opinion about.
