Had a bad feeling about this for a few days. I bet they simply chose McGee over this guy, which I, personally, think is a mistake, given other recent events.

This is now the third or fourth time we've all penciled Dragic into upcoming lineups only to find out it doesn't happen, ultimately.

Should tell us a lot about Luka's level of influence over roster moves, whether we think that's a good thing or not.

Was this for more than the min?  Did we seriously prioritize McGee over Dragic?  This feels like the final straw in a complete disaster of an offseason.

No idea (yet).
Bulls are not any more a contender than we are, so that wasn’t a factor in this decision. Man, if I hear anyone else suggest him coming here to play with Luka in the future, I will go SCORCHED EARTH! This guy absolutely does not want to play in Dallas under any circumstance.
Probably more than vet min. Would think that Dragic could pick any contender if he was willing to play for the vet min.

Are you sure it's not the reverse of that?

I haven't kept up with the math this year. Is this the vet minimum? BAE?
Yikes. This offseason goes from a B to a C- just like that for me.

How do they let Dragic slip through like that?

Shocking.
Hardy may have a big role this year…

Veteran Minimum

I guess there's still a hope that they have something better lined up via trade, but I have to say I kind of doubt it at this point.
Wasn´t super high on Dragic but him signing a vet min deal with another team isn´t a good look for the Mavs. I really hope that they have something up their sleeve. Right now free agency feels like I am watching a car crash in slow motion.
I think deep down Dragic just hates the Mavs organization. He'll never sign here. I hope they go get Avery Bradley instead
The Mavs currently have three people who can dribble, one of whom is a rookie who probably won't be in the playoff rotation.

The Mavs currently have two people who can pass the ball in such a way to create opportunity for others to score.

Really starting to get worried here, I don't mind admitting.

I was coming from the view that Dragic was as clear cut easy signing as it gets. Like no brianer just sign on the dotted line type of deal.

The fact that they either:

1) didn't want to get him despite his established chemistry with Luka (and the fact he's a passable stop-gap)

or
2) Dragic didn't want to come here in the first place.

Is a level of mismanagement I didn't think the Mavs were capable of. Like all the other times I understood passing on Dragic. But this is now what? The 4th time they've baited the fanbase into thinking Dragic is a realistic target and in the fold?

I'm appalled.

Just last year the biggest egg on face was the bungled Mia trade to get Dragic. Now we’re saying no? Hard sell IMO.

Not even kidding this feels worse than Brunson leaving to me.
This is a bad look for the "players are dying to play with Luka" narrative.

Maybe it's Cuban, maybe it's the city of Dallas, I don't know. But something's got to give.

Looking closer and closer to a play-in team.
