Wow, these guys look thin. Big off-season acquisitions all look like busts. Especially Westbrook, who goes for a triple single and game-low -23 +/- tonight. Hafta think they blow it all up this summer.

But who were they ever kidding? DeAndre Jordan and Kent Bazemore in the starting lineup? Carmelo Anthony and Rajon Rondo leading the bench? These are terrific talents—all stars even—whose previous teams didn’t want them. Why wouldn’t their previous teams want them? Cause they’re too damn old!

Not sure this team makes the play in this year.
Yeah that Westbrook move was so horrible
Exactly the last type of player you want to pair with Lebron and AD. Even in his prime.
I love the reactionary take and I know this is satire, but I'm also superstitious sooooooooooooooooo

Just 1 game. I will say Westbrook did look like he doesn't fit well with AD/Lebron. They all but freezed him out in the 3rd/4th quarter.

Lebron looked spry as ever. I do wonder how long the Lakers last if they have to play Lebron 37 mins and AD 39 mins every night in order to be competitive.
Yeah most of their old guys are cooked. Maybe once they get Nunn and Horton-Tucker back that will stabilize their backcourt. Could be a rough ride until then though. I think they traded for Westbrook to take some of the playmaking responsibility off of Lebron's plate, but they are not a good fit when they play together. Maybe they should try to bring Westbrook off the bench to stagger their minutes. They almost traded for Buddy Hield and they might be wishing they took that deal instead. Hield is at least a legit shooter and not a thousand years old. Still, hard to draw any firm conclusions after one game.
How long before LeBron finishes emptying their assets and takes his talent elsewhere...

You think he'd want to go championship hunting as an old veteran role player?
Come on LeBron put your Mavericks jersey on...

I dont think Lebron will ever be a role player.  A 50 year Lebron will still be better than a 28 year old average nba starter.
But..But..But

All these NBA experts are calling it as a Lakers vs MKE/BKN finals. They can't be wrong, can they?

I need a "this is a joke" font :-)

I’d rather sandpaper the asshole of an alligator in a phone booth than see LeBron in a Mavs jersey.

I always trust whatever Bayless says on who will win it all... Angel

Well...they can't all be right...they don't all agree.

I'm looking for the expert that says Mavs vs Pacers

Wow, that is a colorful expression! It’s his team-destroying agent that I’d object to. Not him. But they seem to be a package deal, obviously.

What gets me about last night is Curry going 5/21 shooting, with Green scoring 6 and Klay out, yet they put 121 on the Lakers. And 68 in the second half. At the Staple Center.

Meanwhile LBJ and AD shot the ball well (28/49) and scored 67 points between them. So this isn’t a hot night from the Warriors or an off game for the Laker stars. Just last year’s 9th seed grinding out a win on the withering 8th seed’s home court.

It might be colorful but it doesn’t begin to put in perspective how much I hate LeBron and everything about him.

And after watching last night I think the west just might be wide-open this year after all. Not to overreact to one game but it seems like the Lakers defense is going to be an issue for them all year.

It will never happen but I prefer to win games and if Luka wants to play with his childhood hero, it would be much better that happen in a Mavs jersey than another.

Just different strokes man. I couldn’t stomach it. I don’t think there’s a scenario that could make me root for LeBron. But that’s just me. The good news is I think we’re going to do a lot of winning this year anyway.

Not sure this team makes the play in this year.

I think the presence of LBJ all by himself makes them a likely playoff team, as long as he stays healthy. Assuming he's healthy. And having another 2-way all-star in AD raises the bar a bit more.

To me, LBJ health is their biggest factor.

But assuming they make the playoffs, I certainly agree they do have HUGE issues that are quite likely to hod them back. I think the biggest is the fact that it's basically a brand-new team. Of last night's players, only LBJ and AD were on the team last year. Yes, THT will be back at some point, and they have returned a couple of players from a prior year with Howard and Rondo, but that's not much familiarity.

That's a lot of minutes alongside players whose games you don't know, which forces LA into even less of a team game. And that was probably going to be their biggest challenge already, with all 3 of LBJ, AD, and RW wanting to be fed and pulling at getting theirs.

In theory, they could somehow find chemistry during the year. And they do have some talent. But I do agree they aren't the top dog, and I think the ceiling is far lower than it usually is for a LBJ team.
