Here's an interview of Skin to check out. Can't provide a summary because I just hit play. I'll check back in sometime after I listen.

Looks like there may be a few of these

Skin on Cuban and Donnie parting ways:

"It could have been in the works for a couple of years. I don't think it was a sudden decision or spur of the moment thing...This is something they had been working toward."

Man...I love Skin, but....I just have to say this....

Joe Dirt...Cut the hair....let it goooooo.  Shutdown is over...

Ok, so here’s the problem with that. He can’t make the decision when he knows it isn’t working. He’s been willing to stick it out even though it is making his team worse. That’s chicken crap management.

THAT was super interesting.

1) I had no idea that Kidd forced his way to DAL in 2008.

2) I had no idea just how close Kidd and Dirk were.

3) I love Skin saying how insulting it is to Dirk to think he would allow himself to be used as a PR move and that his presence isn't a meaningful part of this process.

If Dirk and Kidd are so close, why did Kidd so decisively screw Dirk over in 2012?

Dirk is a forgiving man...

I don't think Kidd screwed over Dirk. Kidd jumped ship at a time when Cuban was screwing over the Mavs.
My biggest takeaway. Skin loves his lockdown look. Still rocking the long hair/beard combo.
I have heard in other podcasts that Cuban tried to get Kidd in as an assistant coach before he went to the Lakers but Carlisle said no.
Probably due to real concerns about skiff undermining him and trying to become head coach.
So it seems like the Kidd interest has been ongoing for a while.
There have also been reports of teams chasing Nico for a while.
So it is possible Cuban has been interested in adding both these guys for a few years and this offseason has made it easy to do so.
Skin on the radio a few days ago:

"I think the best players in the world all want to play with Luka. I mean we didn't want to like get into this whole thing because, you know, Mavs fans get their hopes drug through the gutter. But I know a person that would know that said there's only 3 teams Kawhi would consider playing for, and one of them is the Mavericks, and it's only because of Luka."

The whole sum of the snippets of the Jeff "Skin" Wade interview is the best common sense State of the Mavs summation I've encountered.

The times they are a-changin' and I'm on board.  My VCR is disconnected, now stored in the woodshed.

It's not difficult to see Nico as a recruiter, but can he actually build a team that works together?

Kidd knows how to get water thrown on his face and bump into the opposing coach.  What does he not know?

I see Juan JB as a sort of Nick "Fuck "em" Van Excel influence, but is there another Mike Dan Tony-level guy out there to help player-friendly Kidd with the old-fashioned, much maligned X's and O's?

Over and out from the Land of Opportunity

Addendum:  Analytics guy, in my view, is like a police dispatcher; receiving messages and giving direction, but not going to the scene of the crime.
I don't like that Skin Wade guy.  It's something about him.

Terry Stotts is available....

I'd be all over adding him to the staff, but I think Kidd's ego is too big. He won't add a top notch assistant and it will show.

Stotts and D´Antoni are friends of RC. Not gonna happen. At least not in an assistant role.
