*Mark Cuban is relieved that he doesn't have to pay Rick Carlisle 7 million bucks a year not to coach for the next 2 seasons.

Translation: Draft picks stink, just get Carlisle off my pay-roll.

The new era is off to a splendid start. Probably something a new potential GM would already be pissed at, because this could have yielded anything from a mid 1st to an early 2nd round pick, depending how desperate the pursuing team is.

Though this can hardly be considered a surprise.
TRANSLATION: Cuban tried to get compensation but no one was interested, so he now frames it like he is being a humanitarian and philanthropist.

I disagree...

Cuban is stupid and does not like drafting...not worth his time IMO...
Carlisle should join the Heat.

I doubt it. Cuban simply does not believe in the draft. The history is well-documented (no need for details), so for him a 34th and 40th pick from New Orleans (for example) versus paying Carlisle another 1-2 months (~$1M) is just an easy decision.

Of course I have no idea how it plays out contractually, if in two months Carlisle hasn´t found another job and all the coaching vacancies are filled. Suddenly Carlisle wants to return to the Mavs and get paid, cause Cuban hasn´t accepted his resignation.

I doubt teams would not invite Carlisle for interviews over a 2nd round pick hassle, and call Scott Skiles instead.

This is gonna be another case where RC goes to NO, barely gets into the playoffs while beating the Mavs during the season. Mavs get the 1 seed, NO the 8 seed on purpose and Dal loses to NO in 5 games.

The guy above has rapidly gone from an awesome owner to one of the most self-destructive owners in the NBA.

He's going to sabotage his team with his own ego.
Not surprising....Donnie took all the teams draft prep with him anyway.  LOL.

The first good thing to come of this.     Big Grin

This is my guess, too.

Carlisle left after "multiple in person meetings with Mark Cuban." Only takes one meeting to find out Cuban is dumping your buddy Donnie and siding with a guy you don't want to work with anymore in Voulgaris. My guess (GUESS) is that the other meetings were spent negotiating things like how much money was left on the deal, and whether or not Cuban would stand in the way of any potential opportunities for Carlisle.

Now we have draft picks are worthless Cuban...

At least we can't fuck up this years draft.
I guess the picks for next year are pretty straight forward. It will be Nikola Jovic and Alex Antetokounmpo. That´s the closest Cuban will get to a big three. Big Grin
It's funny that we have no draft pocks to trade, and this could have gotten us one to trade in a deal, if for nothing else.  Assinine.
I just want the fans at the games to have the good sense to boo every time Cuban's face appears on the jumbotron.
