This randomness needs its own thread why?

You've been gone for a while. Welcome back.

These days, we don't question when people like @"DanSchwartzgan" start new threads. We just read, say "thanks" and go about our days. It has been working really well, so far.

If this is the standard of thread to which this board genuflects, I probably wasn't gone long enough.

Good lord, this is bad.

Yeah you also apparently all shut your brains off and go down.

Somebody needs to explain to me how this idea is ANY DIFFERENT to Plan Powder?

You can´t hate on the MBT and then praise this idea.

A) I'm not defending the thoughts that comprise the OP right now, I'm trying to dissuade someone (nicely) from attacking one of our best contributors.

B) You must be confusing me with someone else. I don't remember criticizing the MBT much, if at all, especially the parts of it that have exited recently.
What is going on. Members not allowed to post threads anymore? Don´t like it. Don´t read it. Disagree. State your own opinion. Whatever. Dan put thought and effort into the post. That´s more than 99% of posters on most boards do.

1) What world are we in? RBWS shows up, wise cracking legend that he is,  and cares whether someone starts a thread or not? The RBWS that I knew and looked up to was not some Type "A" forum organizer. I'm having trouble processing.

2)  Dan, start more threads please!

3) M12. What's the probability that you actually like the new GM and coach? You know that the new regime isn't going to surround MVP candidate, win now Luka with rookies and G-Leaguers, right?
I really enjoy reading posts about what should and shouldn’t justify a new thread. It’s gripping stuff. I wish someone would, I dunno, start a new thread about it? That would be so fun.

Start a thread about what Utah is like as a city

I support this post 100%...

Also because it is a Dan post I pinned it due to it being high quality....

Then I guess you've clearly forgotten my "good thread.  good read." posts for 20+ years on the boards.

The OP was little more than tea leaves reading speculation.  It's the type of stuff you get out of Fish -- a guy who presented himself as some all knowing insider, but was just a hack.  And I called him out on being a hack for decades.  I'm not new to DanSwarzenegger's posts.  Sometimes he posts interesting stuff that actually is a good read.  But this ain't it.

This board seems content to consolidate all its random ideas to MASSIVE THREADS.  There are a lot of great ideas in there by great posters.  Nonetheless, that's where they are.  But then, on THE BUSIEST MAVS NEWS WEEK IN YEARS where news breaks on the daily, a new thread is stickied amongst all the groundbreaking news.  And what is it?  Oh, just a thread where a guy postulates an illuminati connect-the-dots conspiracy with zero payoff.  So I called him on it.

Honestly though, I think my issue was more with Killer's sudden tendency to beatify certain people as sacred cows.  It started with his "Leave Britney Alone!!!!!!!1!!!" tone about "RC is a good man!!!!!!!!1!!!" (which struck a nerve with me). It continued with "These days, we don't question when people like @DanSchwartzgan start new threads. We just read, say "thanks" and go about our days."  Oh, well, pardon me, Killer.  Please provide me a list of who's above reproach regardless of their performance.

Hi RBWS,

I too started a new thread yesterday titled June of 1996.  It could of just been easily added to another thread but did not know witch one.  Wonder if you you be so kind as to let the board know what you think of that one.

Thanks in advance.

1. RBWS, thanks for sharing your opinions on thread starting. I don't think any of us that are serving the community as mods on our fun little forum care to rigidly define what is deserving of a thread. I think such definition is silly, unless thread starting becomes a problem. Feel free to disagree.

2. I think you're wrong about Dan on a bunch of levels. He's not making money doing this, so the comparison to Fish makes no sense. Can you imagine Dan coming up with some trade ideas and then plugging his own greatness and linking to all his past posts? The comparison is silly. He's contributing to the conversation, and he does a great job of it. You don't have to like his posts, or my posts, or anyone elses. Dan, in my opinion, is one of the more humble postres here, and any promotion of his contributions come from the community that appreciates him.

3. If Killer's love for Rick struck a nerve, then joing the club!!! I think Rick is awesome as well!!! And it appears that I'm in the minority. I'm sure I've struck lots of nerves in claiming that Rick is a great coach over the years!

4. As far as sacred cows, posters are the only sacred cows we have. Our one rule is that we respect each other. As mods, pretty much our only jobs are to delete the spambot junk and step in if folks disrespect each other too much. This forum is so cool that we hardly ever have to do it. If you think we suck at our job, that's fine too. We're doing our best. I do the least as a mod, so if you want to hate on any of us, pick me. Leave Kam and Clutch alone since they somehow, out of the kindness of their hearts, choose to make this place a constant flow of available news. Amazing, those two.

If you want to take me to task for any of this, or anything else, feel free. Let's start another thread for it, or maybe we should just move this topic out of Dan's thread. I'm game. You can tell me all you want about everything we're doing wrong. And who knows, we might even think you have good suggestions.

Can one of the more Tech savy mods move this post, and all the other back forth about what RBWS doesn't like about this thread to another thread, that way Dan's thread can be a basektball one?

Honestly, I had no problem.  I liked it.  It was a unique concept that didn't already have a place on the forum.  More importantly, though, it wasn't elevated to a premier status.

Roster speculation, on the other hand, is so vapid.  I've often remarked to myself how crazy it is that there are over 400 pages of trade ideas all consolidated in a single thread, again, by some great posters.  So when DarrylStrawberry posted something that was pure speculation about the roster and not only created an unnecessary thread (basically cutting in the 'look at my idea' line) and had it stickied in a way that acts as if there's a hierarchy here, I called bullshit.

Which doesn't belong?

A. Championship winning coach resigns
B. GM of 24 years is FIRED
C. Franchise icon joins front office
D.  99.9% of other posters' ideas thread
E.  DavidSchwimmer's Random Idea

Thanks for the comment.  But back to Dan - he is the reason I joined this board a few years ago.  I use to follow him and others that have been switching over to here from another site for many years.  Reading his post and others here make it enjoyable for me to be a Mavs fan and feel like apart of something.

Just saying...
Just trying to preserve both discussions by giving them both their place to shine!!!

I made the decision to sticky the thread for 3 days...if you have issues with that you can contact me and discuss this instead of derailing a thread...

Thread has been unstickied...

RBWS you rarely contribute these days but want to complain with how things are done here and how the Community members do things here...any poster is welcome to start a thread but they decided not to and it was their decision...

Congrats...you provoked my first warning to a poster in my 3 years as a Mod/Admin...
Please continue to have this conversation here. This was moved to preserve both topics!
