Whoever called Mak returning the other day wins the Internet...

I hope there's no actual correlation there because someone brought up Barrtletbear (or whoever) earlier.

Shoot me now...
A mod should change the title to "Caption this Picture"

Luka: "Jamaal, let go."
Mosley:  "Please don't leave me alone with Mark and Bob, baby."

Confused Confused Luka’s reaction
All kidding aside, I like Mosley and seems like the team does too. https://twitter.com/dallasmavs/status/13...4555794439

That being said, I think Mavs need to desperately look outside the franchise for a new voice and real change.
I support Mosley if he is the guy. I think the most important thing is who will Luka listen to and Mosley is a young player's coach so I like that.
I think all options for a new coach should be explored...AFTER we have a new general manager.  I don't know anything about Jamal Mosley except that he won the single game I know he coached.  A single win does not make a "good" head coach.  I'm leaning toward an outside hire...something like the Stevens hire of a few years ago.  An inside hire may be just more of the same.

But...for some reason...the Mavs organization has called to ask for my opinion...yet....
Feel like if he's the guy then it will just get portrayed that  he's just "Luka's Guy" and that's the only reason he's even considered for the job, but that's not true.   The Celtics lined up a job interview with him to replace Stevens.  He interviewed for the Knicks job last year.   He's obviously highly thought of around the league, not just in the Mavs organization.

Ultimately, I want the new GM to make the hire and I don't want Mosely (or anyone else) shoved down the new GMs throat.   But if you're the new GM and you're looking for a new HC and you don't have strong ties to any available candidates out there I imagine Mosely would be top of the list.   You have a candidate who is highly thought of around the league AND ALSO knows every current player in the lockerroom backwards and forwards AND ALSO has built strong relationships inside the building AND ALSO has a great connection with the 22 year old face of the franchise:   That's a very appealing option to me.    It's not like "Oh, we got to give the new head coach a full year to feel out the roster, get to know the players inside and out, find out what the like and don't like,  the best way to communicate with them and approach them, etc"   We don't have a year to waste.

He has interviewed for many jobs, as one of the dozen candidates teams interview and he never was a finalist for a job. IIRC he has interviewed for Rockets job too and his colleague got the job.
That isn't a positive (or negative) sign to me tbh. He was an assistant of a future HOF coach and stable/successful organization. It is normal he will be considered.

-Steve Kerr came in and immediately changed the Worriers, you don't always need a year to feel the roster.

-If we don't have year to waste, then we better hire the absolute best coach of those available, rather than getting a mediocre one just because he is already here. No need for another Avery Johnson.
I kinda like the idea of D’Antoni simply because he might be the most equipped of all the names mentioned to get the Luka +KP duo rolling QUICKLY and having fun together. That’s arguably the most important task for the next coach. When you have 2 legit stars, a coach mostly just needs to make sure they’re doing what they do best.

But D’Antoni’s near complete dismissal of defense means he wouldn’t be a long term solution, so I just like the idea of him more than the reality. Nash would be at the top of my list if he was available.

Stotts would be OKAY. Nothing too exciting, nothing too bad. Just okay. Solid.

Kidd might be the worst possible timeline.

The others (Hammons, Cal, Udoka, etc) seem interesting but it feels like if we’re going in that direction — why not just give Moseley a shot? There’s some chance he becomes our Erik Spoelstra.
With familiar faces being discussed recently, I would LOVE to bring this guy in as an assistant or consulting coach.

Early indications that he might not be a finalist for the job (again).

Yeah he´s been interviewed a few times now and never seems to get very far. Wasn´t he also in the Chicago process. Might be a bit of a red flag.

I´d leave that completely up to the new GM.
Welp...lock this up! See ya Mosley, maybe in a few years if Kidd flames out

Man I'd be $700 richer today if I took these odds.
